Easter in Corfu-Easter Sunday
by mindcrime
It seems the locals after so many customs during the Holy Week they have to rest! So, there isn’t any big festival like in mainland this day. We didn’t know that so we just choose a meat restaurant to go. The locals stay at home and do the popular greek custom of roasting lambs. As we couldn’t do at the hotel, the tavern was the closest we could get :) Earlier in the morning we drove to some villages and we saw some locals having their own at the front yard, when we stopped for greetings we were invited to go inside and taste it :)
So, at noon we found a good tavern at Corfu Town (see my restaurant tips) where we enjoyed the meat we’ve missed the previous week :) I’ve leeart by locals that in Corfu they didn’t have this custom anyway and it’s only the last years that they do it, probably due to the thousands of visitors.
The believers go to the church in the afternoon too. On Monday they have some festival in some of the villages while on Tuesday do the “mpasmata” which is the repositioning of Agios Spyridon’s relics in the shrine.
LISTON cafe
by mindcrime about Café LIBRO D’ORO DA CAPRI
This is the first café you see at Liston, and yes, as you will notice there’s no much difference between them anyway, actually during peak hours you only want to find a free table near the square to sit. Liston is a popular for the visitors but also the most popular meeting point for the locals too.
I could write the same things/tip for every place along Liston, especially during the night there's no much difference, everyone comes here for socializing.
We took cold chocolate(3.10e), tsitsimpira(local lemonade 3.10e), some sweets (4-5e) and this was the first place I tried the local beer(5e) which was good by the way.
Dead end camping!
by JLBG
Driving the narrowest dirt roads, we often found dumping sites but we occasionally found tiny little places that were a dream for camping! This one was a dead end somewhere over Kassiopi. The trail ended among spiny bushes and there was hardly enough space to open the doors of the Landrover!. The view on the Strait of Corfu with Albania in the background was stunning!
Canal d'Amour, Corfu Island, Greece
by apekovic
It's nice little place with small beaches in area of clifs and sandstones which was eroded by wind. Canal d'Amour is well connected by coastal road with west and east coast of the island. The position is north.
