Advice for 1 day in Kerkyra from a cruise ship

by perly

Would it be advantageous to do an excursion from the ship or would we be able to do most things on our own in Kerkyra? We will be coming their in September of 09. There are 8 of us, middle age adults.

This is a busschedule from Corfu, I do not know if the busses have this scedule this year. But you can see how often app. the busses run. You can also take a cab from the harbour to the Acheilleion and/or Mon Repos park.
Or just visit the beautiful town !!

Travel Tips for Kerkyra

Hellenic Lager

by Jerelis

Let’s make no secret of it. We both like a nice cold glass of beer. Being abroad is always a challenge to find a beer we like, which reflects our taste of having a beer. At Corfu (maybe the entire country of Greece) it was sometimes rather difficult. We found out that there are quite some local beers, only known in that particular area. But anyway, we did like the the Hellenic Lager.

VISITING THE ISLAND

by Globies

We haven't seen much of the island but we liked the town of Paleokastritsa. Nice beaches, boat tours take you to see grotto's. We also very much liked the Archilleion. This is the palace where Sisi, the Austian empress used to stay.

Rent a scooter for one day and ride around this island.
You only need one day to see a lot of its beauty.
And believe me, you will feel free with the sun on your legs and meeting all the other people driving around. My fondest memory is looking at the stars by night and listening to the sea.
I know , you can do this all over the world, but still.
I also liked the icecreams in the capital , Kerkyra, and the rainy afternoons.
Drinking Pastec is cool too , by the beachbar. But I will tell about this later.

CORFU TOWN - CHURCH OF AGIOS SPYRIDON. This ortodox church is one of the most important landmarks of the town. Church was built in 1590 & it houses the mummified body of the island's patron St. Spyridon.
