Monemvasia
by Lilasel
A causeway links mainland Greece with the Rock of Monemvasia. This mysterious Rock was separated from the mainland by an earthquake in 337 AD.
The Rock is about 2 km from the port. Cars aren't allowed inside the walls of old town so you can park it outside the fortifications.
Trick?
by AndyRG
It is not an... opposite picture, just a simple trick of my fantasy: a house -and a half body!- are mirrored in a small lake outside the metropolis, which had been created by the rain a few hours ago...
Panagia (Virgin Mary) Chrysafitissa
by AndyRG
It is located at the same edge of the town. It was built in the 17th century, still in use.
The yard around the church towards the walls is the only open, somehow, place of Monemvasia, even though not large. I had seen there kids playing football (and I was jealous, of course!).
The castle city
by gnt70
Monemvasia is a castle city by the sea, at the south east Peloponese. Many hours from Athens, it is an ideal nest for freshly fallen in love people but not only. The place is naturaly protected and used to be an important commercial station under several different rulers.
