Greek simple style comfort
This hotel is a 3 * 90's greek hotel. No frills, but for the great price we paid, we received a spacious and clean room. Linen changed regularly. The breakfast was fresh and filling. Lot's of variety. The staff were always happy and cheerful, and could not do enough for us. We would definatly come back to this hotel when in the area. The location is 10 - 15 mins walk to the beach and 20 mins walk to town center. We had a car, so it was a 5 mins drive to town and plently of parking. We had a sea view room, and enjoyed the tranquile blue sea of the mirabello bay. Over all, great experience for a budget stay.
Unique Quality: swimming pool is enormous and unusal.
The gardens are beautiful.
Staff very friendly
Directions: 10 mins uphill from Ammoudi beach.
Delightful with very friendly staff
My second time to this hotel was even better than the first. Walk in the door with a friendly attitude and you are treated like family here (the good family - not the ones you don't like!). Large clean rooms for very reasonable rates - particularly if you use groupon. The staff will go out of their way to suggest good restaurants, sites to visit, taverns and bars to dance in or simply listen to good classic rock and blues (Yannis). Plus you never know what kind of social activity may arise at the hotel. Inexpensive tours or reasonable rentals for cars, quads, or scooters. The breakfast is included and is very good. If you don't mind paying a little extra you can get some incredible views of the Aegean or at least the spacious pool or tennis court. The walk into town is a pleasant 15-20 minute downhill stroll and a very reasonable 5 euros to return in a Taxi. Singles and couples will enjoy this place the most - the hotel and atmosphere is perfect.
Unique Quality: From the president and owner Harrie, to Rena, Mariam, Danny and Stephanos at the front desk, to Savas the bar manager and barbecue master. To Chef Didi who prepares your delicious food and Kenny who maintains the rooms and Georgios the horticulturist who keeps the properties own fresh olive oil produced (along with fresh lemons and limes) - you will feel like you are a part of a big family and not just a guest. The people here are what makes it an incredible trip. You won't want to leave! Add a very large and spacious pool with a unique bar on an island, tennis court and weight room and you have a very well rounded and enjoyable place to stay.
Directions: Coming east rom Heraklion - first left at light continue left past small market. Take a right at next prominent intersection. You should see a gas station on your left. Another 100 meters on your right and you will see Mikro Village sign.
