TSA-GA-RA-DA ! ! ! and more...
From Volos take the mountain road to Mt. PILION, until you get to TSAGARADA, one of the finest villages overlooking the Aegean sea and the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos & Allonisos.
For a bath drive down to Agios IOANNIS, for good fish food choose the left taverna at picturesque DAMOUCHARI (the road ends at the beginning of the small village, walk the few meters down to the beach).
Demetrias is situated at a distance of 1,5 kilometers south of the modern town of Volos. The site is which the Hellenistic town was established, dates back to the Neolithic times. In the peninsula north east of Demetrias, known as Magoula Pefkaki, a very important prehistoric site flourished.
Congress in Pelio
I just want to remember that I was here... cool memories from this station :)
After we arrived here from Larissa we went to bus station in Volos and travelled two hours to MIlopotamous... Little town near the sea.
"Holiday Club Pelio"
We (geographers) stayed there a week learning, working in the workshops (team work), went to hike and meet the region...
This picture was taken at one hike at you can see a part of the participants from the congress!
Volos- A place for your heart
Volos port is situated in a very important spot for the transportation of goods in the Mediterranean area. It is in the centre of Greece, on the Aegean coast and at almost equal distance from the two biggest cities of Greece, Athens in the south and Thessaloniki in the north.
Volos is also the Greek port in the Aegean sea, which is closest to Igoumenitsa, the Greek port towards the Adriatic Sea.
The city is very cosy, even if the architecture of the modern buildings is actually missing. The sea is incredible and now I understand why Greek language has 5 words for "blue".
You want to relax after a full day? No problem, take a small boat and lose into the sea.
You can't sleep at night? No problem, you can take a walk on the shore and even ease your soul into the Church of Constatinos and Helen.
You feel you want to be alone? Ok, take the oposit direction and the mountain will welcome you.
You want to party? Ok, take some friends and climb aboard a cruising ship or go to "Bousoukia".
You just want to relax with your firends? Fine too; the "tavernas" and "terasses" are serving you at any hour of the day or the night.
History is you passion? Excellent; you can explore the sorrounding areas and the ruines everywhere near the city (or everywhere in Greece for that matter)
If you want to feel really alive, you must deffinitely go to Volos once, and for sure you will come back again.
