Jane and Stavros Aparment: A balcony over the port

We stayed 5 days in August 2011 after having found it online on www.homeaway.com.
The apartment have a nice vaulted roof with wooden beans it was very clean and decorated with good taste, it did not look like the usual vacation rental but like a actual home.
There is A/C and a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, oven, stove and fridge. The pots, pans and silverware equipment were good.
We especially liked the size of the room, very spacious for two people, and the nice balcony overlooking the port and the cafeteria, equipped with table and chair where to enjoy your breakfast and great for people watching. The balcony was protected from the sun by a big awning.
The bakery downstairs is popular among the local so it can get a bit noisy from the early morning when the people waiting for the fisherman to come back with the daily catch gather around the port. The hang out there drinking coffee and chatting every morning. On the other hand the bakery have excellent pastry and cookies for breakfast and also cake and ice cream.

I really appreciated the position in the hearth of Agios Nikolaos, the homey feeling it had and also the presence of dark curtain at the windows so the light did not bother me in the early morning.
It was close to everything in the village and really comfortable.
The owners have been nice and helpful with us that is a plus.

Tsitsiris Castle: Romantic Rooms

If you are a romantic soul or you are in love, choose the rooms at the old tower. They are smaller than the others but they are very atmospheric with their tiny windows and the walls made of local stone.

The owner, Mrs Antigoni, is very fond of one room in the tower. She calls it "aggalitsa" which means little hug.

Tsitsiris Castle: Traditional Castle

Tsitsiris Castle is located in a little village near Gerolimenas. It is a traditional settlement with a renovated old tower and a couple of new blocks.

The rooms are decorated in the traditional maniot style. All rooms have AC, tv set and a small refrigerator.

Breakfast is served in a cellar or at the back yard. Dinner is available after request.
