Halfway up the mountain from Prionia, lies Refuge A. This is a great little mountain refuge which can provide you with all sorts of information about the mountain, climbing conditions, trail conditions, etc. Alos, it is the last place where you can obtain food and water for the last leg of your summit push. It also serves as a sleep site for those who want or need to stay on the mountain. They serve a great, large portioned dinner for the hungry hikers that are descending from their climbs. Beds are super-comfortable, or that might have just been my memory becasue I was SO tired from the days activities!
Beds are 10 Euro, 8 Euro of you are a member of any hiking club.
Lights out at 10 PM
Open mid-May to mid-Oct
Meals 6-9 PM
For such a small town, this hotel was quite good. The room was spotless, the hotel was situated on the main road, with many restaurants, grocery stores, and internet cafes/bars right within walking distance. The reception, while not speaking much English, was very helpful and pleasant. They were able to book my taxi to the trails and give me information about what to see while I was in town.
