where to stay?

by yorkmitz

Hello, grateful for any advice, really love to have a sea view, but also quite like to have a pool with bar,for those really lazy days....,dont want to be too far out of town,10 mins walking max.have looked at utopia,no pool but looks like a great position, anyone stayed there,is it likely to be noisy at night?Or is it better to stay at Valtos, how easy to get in and out of town at night?to give an idea of what we[hubby and I,middle age,but not dead yet!!]like we stayed in ag.nik in lefkada last year and had a fab holiday, but would like slightly more streets to wander in the evenings.we have to take our hols in aug,so realise everywhere will be v.busy.thanks

there ara lots of hotels and app. in Parga. i would recc. to stay near kryoneri or piso kryoneri. Then you are out of the centre, but at sealevel so you won't have to climb a hill at evening. Valtos is not next to Parga, you have to cross a hill !!!!In August it will be packed with Greeks and Italians.
It's very nice in Parga, I was there in April ! Have fun, maria

Travel Tips for Parga

A walk up to Ali Pashas Castle

by Russ60

This is a Venetian Castle built high above Parga once occupied by a Turk called Ali Pasha.
The long walk up to the Castle passes through a small village (Anthousa I think) the Castle is a good mile or so past this village.
The views from the Castle back to the coast are well worth the hard struggle uphill to get there.

Fantastic view and good food

by Lomma about Kastro 1380

After many years in Parga - we finally entered this Restaurant. Known more for its view than the food. However, this year - we knew that our friends from many years further down the road, selling bags, had taken over the place and we wanted to pay them a visit.
Finally the place has become the restaurant it should be. Aleca and Petros have turned it into the place it deserves to be - right underneith the castle of Parga. Fantastic view and good food. A variaty of dishes - from local to international, kids meny and a fairly good selection of wine. Again - you always get what you pay for in this respect.
Aleca is the perfect hostess and they have lovely, friendly waiters.

Book a table to be sure to be seated in the front hanging more or less over Parga. We tried the the Castro specials stuffed chicken and Pork and this was very good.
We enjoyed wine - from €25 and up and it is worth it to a good dish.
The kids menu was enjoyed by our youngest "Nose of pinochico", so you will always find something there.

Sandy beach in Valthou bay

by JLBG

The bottom of Valthou bay has a superb beach that is the beach of Parga. It can be reached either by sea or by a small road. This is the road that leads from the main road to Parga and that goes a little further, as a dead end.

Parga

by pepica

Picturesque town on Ionian Sea, on small bay with olive tree woods. Romantic streets with white houses, lots of cafés, taverns… Quiet at the day, but in the night you can enjoy in cosmopolitan atmosphere

The church of Saint Panagia on the island across the town is one of the most known places in Parga. You can get there by swimming from the Krioneri beach.
The view is magnificent.
