Travel Tips for Parga
This year I did it - I rented a bike for 2 weeks. I have been biking quite hard (so I thought) for about a year now, and was really ready to hit the roads around Parga.
Let me just tell you one thing: There is no easy way out of Parga!!! (only back). It is quite hilly and the heat makes it even harder. The traffic, can be a drag at some time and you have to be careful. However I had about 7-8 trips around in the area, of which was extremely hard for me one way and not so hard back.
The scenery around Parga is fantastic and one perfect way to see the surroundings must be on a bike.
Rent a Bike shops has become more easy to find. Make sure you get a good mountain bike and remember to bring your helmet. Bike helmet is a smart thing to bring.
Get a good mountain bike with good gear and preferably a new one.
You can have a Greek wine and a really great dish to accompany it. Moreover, the view from Rudis' balconies is really great. Everything was so delicious! We tried pizza and garlic bread and a mushroom dish. They also serve really tasty flavored butters as a starter.
Churches of Parga
The central church of St Nikolas dominants the centre and its where the school kids hang out too and provides their playground in the evening. Around Parga there are approximately 50 other churches - some are built on hills, mountain faces, other are hid in the picturesque small roads of Parga. Others decorate the sea side - only accessible by sea. There are several tuxked into the side streets of PArga and at the top of the steps towards the venetian castle.
The most important of these are:
The church of St Nikolas (the protector of Parga)
The Monastery of St Vlacherna.
The church of St Eleni (Hill of St Eleni) - its a long climb up here!
The church of St Athanasios (Krioneri)
The church of St Sostis (St Sostis - beach)
The church of St Marina
The church of Mother Mary (the known small island)
The church of St Nikola (at Chagiopoulo)
The church of St Nikola (at Monolitho)
The church of the Twelve Apostles
The church of St Spyridon (at Valtos)
During our holiday in Corfu, we took a cruise to Paxos and Parga one day. With only 1,5 hours to spend in Parga, it was a very short visit, but I was fascinated by the views and the narrow alleys of this idyllic small town. May be some day I'll be back for a longer stay!
Because of the short visit, no tips here, but hope you like my photos!
This is the view that first caught my eye when our boat arrived in the port of Parga.
This is the beach in Parga, looked a bit small, but lovely.

This island can be found in Lake Pamvotis at Ioannina. Here you can visit the Ali Pasha museum. It's a very small island with excellent taverna's and restaurants. The boat ride from Ioannina takes about 10 to 15 minutes and costs only a couple of Euro's.
