The Tango Club is a great place for lunch is spending a day at Valtos beach - everything from Greek food to pita wraps and pizzas. Reasonable prices. Large area to sit in and there is even a pool you can use here too if you don't want to go in the sea. we just had club sandwich and frappé - no complaints and pleasant surroundings overlooking the beach.
Specialises in fish which the proprietor catches in his own boat. Menu is subject to what he catches. Non fish options also available. Great views over Valtos beach and Ali Pashas fortress in the hills.
A walk up to the Venetian Castle is a must. Apart from the views once you have reached the castle, the walk through the old stepped streets is well worth it.
Looking down over the bays and Parga gives you an idea of where things are .
The castle is open all day and entry is free so you have no excuse not to visit!!
Cypress trees shade the walk around the ruins.
It's better if you can visit when you're on your own, as the sense of peace and tranquility here in these pretty shaded grounds is to be savoured. You don't want to have to listen to other people's conversations.
From the castle there is a path to Valtos Beach.
Stefanos is both a great man of Parga as well as his fantastic fish taverna with the fantastic view over Valtos beach and Anthoussa. The sunset is fantastic from this Taverna.
At Stefanos, Stefano will fish all the fish for your meal and he get some great catches from the local area.
I enjoyed fresh fished lobster two times this year, and houseband some other local fish. It was all great.
The best is though the atmosphere, the service and to know Stefano, who is quite genuim. No doubt. The Lobster
Below the castle on the other side of the headland from Parga is a fine sand/shingle beach of Valtos - well worth spending a day here. It takes about 20 mins to walk up the step in Parga and down the other side. Water taxis are available from Parga harbour in season - we were too early in the season so had to enjoy the walk. A few beach tavernas line the back of the beach and sunbeds and parasols are available for rent (approx 8 euros for 2 beds and parasol per day)
The further you walk away from the castle the better the beach becomes - coarse sand and the water is very clear - I didn't need my swim shoes. In May the sea was just about warm enough to swim in and its was quiet on the beach - just a few people so lovely and peaceful.
