Water Sports
by Jannice48
You can find the water sports on Potokaki Beach, Pythagorion. It is a large pebbly beach located on Southern Samos close to the airport and all hotels in Pythagorio. There are different water sports to be found, kayaking, ringo's and the flying fish are to name a few. There are plenty of sunbeds on the beach and tavernas right next to the beach. As you can see by the pictures fun was had by all who were brave enough to have a go at some of the water sports. You will need to wear your normal swim/beach clothing. Don't forget to have plenty of suncream with you. The safety wear i.e lifejackets are provided by the watersports centre.
Pithagorio

Pithagorio is close to the airport, close to the Hera temple and some other important sights. Also a wonderful town, but I'd say it's a bit more touristic then Samos town.
Beside of this it could be if you are having a hotel room in Pithagorio, esp. in the west of Pithagorio, that you hear a lot from the airplans landing and departing from Samos.
I'd still say it's a must see, if you are on Samos.
Samos

"Samos"
Samos is a large Greek island in the Aegean Sea.
It is a fairly popular tourist destination, but not yet on the same scale as some other Greek islands.
I saw only a small amount of the island - Pythagorio, where I was staying, the neighbouring resort of Ireon and the capital, Samos Town (or Vathy).
The island is close to the western coast of Turkey, with regular ferry crossings from Samos Town to the Turkish resort of Kusadasi.
The island's airport is located at Potokaki, close to Pythagorio, and landing there involves a lengthy detour out to sea in order to descend low enough to avoid the surrounding mountains!
