Brouklis Rooms: Greek hospitality at it's best

Brouklis Rooms are situated above Brouklis Taverna in the village of Arillas in North West coast of Corfu. My friend and I stayed in the two bedroom apartment that sleeps up to 4 people for two weeks.

There are comfortable twin beds in each bedroom and there are mosquito nets above the beds which assure a good nights sleep for a person who gets an allergic reaction to bites like me. Also the windows and the balcony doors have pull down mosquito nets which allows you to sleep with windows and balcony doors open.

The kitchen is basic but nice with kettle, fridge, enough crockery and cutlery and has everything one needs to make a breakfast or light lunch.

Bathroom, again basic but nice and enough hot water for a nice shower after a day on the beach. Even the bathroom window has a mosquito net so that can stay open 24/7.

This is no frills accommodation with some noise from the taverna until late at night. But I did not even notice it to be honest after a good dinner and few drinks. If you are a light sleeper I recommend earplugs for the mornings as the village wakes up and there are deliveries and garbage trucks etc. doing their thing to keep the village supplied and tidy.

The sheets and towels are changed every two to three days. If you would like a fan or more towels, just speak to Dimitri or his wife and they are more than happy to help.

I can sincerely recommend a stay in Brouklis :)

Best thing about staying in Brouklis Rooms is that they are above a traditional Corfiot taverna downstairs. We never even opened the menus and just went by the recommendation from the staff of the specials or what was freshly cooked that day. Not once were we disappointed and we sat there after dinner watching the world go by with a carafe of house white. It is a popular taverna and even if you stay upstairs, I recommend you book a table to be sure you get one when you want it.

Bonus is that the Brouklis Rooms are situated only 150 meters from the beach, which is nice :)

Tropicana apartments: Tranquil relaxation

We stayed two weeks at this marvellous apartments in Arillas. It was a lovely quiet location and the walk to the village took only about 15 min on average with the holiday pace. The place is run by Giorgios and his family and they certainly treat their customers with warmth like you have visited them many times before. Once a week the barbeque is fired up and long tables set up for a lovely meal with enormous amounts of meat, salad and tsatziki.

They have now build Tropicana II apartments across the road which are finished to the highest quality and we will be staying there next summer for our holidays. I can sincerely recommend this accomdation to anyone who needs to rest their head and not to worry about anything.

I have been travelling all around Greece over a decade now once a year, but this is the first place where I will return most definetly again.

The aparment was kept nice and clean through out and the air conditioning made it ever so pleasant when the mercury climbed over +42 degrees. And generally the apartment had everything you needed for a self catering holiday.

Alexis Zorbas: Meditation and relaxation

The Alexis Zorbas is a special and different place to stay for a summer vacation with meditation and relaxation. When you book at the Alexis Zorbas you will be staying in the guesthouses in Arillas, which have been rented by the Zorbas center. See the photo I took from our room in our guesthouse which was called the "Pink house" (das rosa Haus in German) - there we shared a an appartment with two other girls (two rooms sharing one shower/toilet).

You will get great food at the Alexis Zorbas. They cook vegetarian only and you get a buffet for breakfast and dinner which you will be having in the nice garden of the Zorbas center. For lunch enjoy the great Greek food in one of the restaurants of Agios Stefanos or Arillas. There are lots of seminars that you can book at the center and they also offer different meditation classes and yoga and ....and .. and
I loved the OCTAGON, the meditation room in form of an octagon.

Hotel Bardis Sun: Hotel Bardis Sun

This small, smartly-furnished hotel, on the outskirts of Arilas village, is great for those looking for a relaxing holiday in a traditional Greek village surrounded by countryside. The Bardis Sun Hotel is also perfect for those you want to spend the day sunbathing by the pool. The beach is only 100m away and it's 50m to the nearest café. The nearest supermarket is 300m and the resort centre is 600m away.
