Lefkas, Ormos Sivota from the road

Ormos Sivota, the bay of Sivota has the shape of an S and thus it is perfectly sheltered from of every directions of wind.

The second photo was taken in 1977 from the road to Nidri and Lefkas. In summer, there were usually a few boats anchored, swinging in the middle of the bay. There was a small seafood restaurant and nothing else. In the background of the photo, the island of Ithaka.

The first photo was taken in 1997 from almost the same place. There were also boats swinging but there were now quays on both sides of the bay with more than a hundred boats anchored in front of a dozen of restaurants.

Lefkas, evening in Ormos Sivota

The photo of this tip shows a quiet evening in Sivota in 1977. The surface of the water is perfectly still, which shows how good the shelter is. Our sailing boat is swinging in the middle of the bay, together with two friend?s boats.

Lefkas, morning in Ormos Sivota

The first photo was taken in 1978, early morning. It shows the western shore of the bay, which has not yet been built in a quay. The (only) restaurant is on the far right.

The second photo was taken a little later, late morning with the kids from our three boats rowing to the restaurant.

Sivota on Lefkada, a landlocked bay

Sivota (Συβοτα in Greek) is a landlocked bay standing in the very south of Lefkas island, in front of Ithaki and Cephalonia.

It is 21 km south to Lefkas city.

Warning :

VT location database for this page has several discrepancies :
- "See all locations nearby" place it in the southern part of Lefkas with Vasiliki 7.23 km, Poros 3.44 km, etc...
- The map on the Sivota travel page place it in the southern part of Lefkas (same on my map).

This is OK and my page deals with this place, on Lefkas.

- However, it is listed under "Prefecture of Thesprotia" though it should be under "Prefecture of Lefkada"

"Go To Syvota"

I was thoughtfully informed by JLBG that this Sivota is on the Ionian island of Lefkas and although we have been there, I had made this page about Syvota in Epirus.
