Country Inn- Kalithea: Quiet clifftop Location

This small newly opened hotel was ideal place to relax. It is small only 16 rooms and really only suitable for couples. Which was the attraction for us. It is down a quiet lane about 5-10 minutes walk from Kalithea and 20 minutes from Afitos.
The rooms are cleaned daily with individual balconies with either a sea view or pool view, they have TV and Air con. Some balconies have swallows nesting which we liked, just mind your head at feeding time. The birds can also be a bit messy.
The staff at this family run hotel are very nice. There is a small poolside bar where breakfast is served between 8am & 10am. There is food available all day.
There is no reception area, everything happens around the pool & the bar.
There is a path down the cliff to the beach, but you have to be very careful & surefooted to take it.
Hotel is exclusive to the Thomson group I think, but it is wort checking that & i would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing time

Hotels in Salonika: The price of success

Thessaloniki, though not a tourist town, is too popular for its own good. It's the biggest student town in Greece and the biggest trade fair centre to boot. Hotels tend to be expensive for the quality they offer.

Or at least they were until recently; they have been improving. Many, including the Luxembourg, the Andromeda and the City, have had a face lift. new ones have opened, like the Kinissi and International. Others continue live off proximity to the trade fair grounds, like the ABC, or weddings, like the idyllically situated Philippeon.

Of the recently arrived chains, the Holiday Inn is near the train station, in a downmarket but lively part of town. The Hyatt and the Kempinski, on the other hand, are way out near the airport and make taxi or car hire a necessity unless you're only there for a conference.

For a mid- to budget-level hotel which is centrally located and has decent services you could do worse than the Park, though it's a bit gerrybuilt and certainly nothing to look at. It overlooks a square that was dug up to make way for a much needed parking lot, but then of course they found more roman ruins so it's an archeology park instead. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby, and you can walk anywhere in the city centre.
I haven't stayed there myself, but I knew a bunch of opera singers who lived there recently for two months, and they seemed to do OK.!
