Ancient Walls of Thessaloniki
by Teo72
For the most part, the medieval walls of the city still stand, as well as remains of the older Roman and Hellenistic ones: something you don't see often in other cities.
The east wall runs upward almost directly from the sea starting with Vardari fortress. A good place to start is the Golden Gate on Egnatia (near it's junction with 28 Oktovriou st.).

A Legend
by traveloturc about Hamodrakas
It's been 70 years since Leonidas Hamodrakas established the first outdoor fish tavern on the sea shore of Nea Krini, which still stands today in the same place taking us back many years ago only to remind us that "Hamodrakas" restaurant is one of the best (taverna-seafood-ouzeria) all together and is the oldest fish tavern in Thessaloniki.
Its situated on the beach and from the veranda you can enjoy all the lights of the city drinking your ouzo..The staff is very intelligent and frendly after that I explain my country they change the brand of Ouzo because in my country we dont drink sweet ouzo..
The seafood and Calamaris was excellent ..I want to send again my appreciation to the ownerr and staff. If you really want to feel the Thessaloniki nights without the crazy nights of Kalamaria this is the place to go calamaris and octopusses with barbounias...
