The first thing you should visit is the Byzantine Culture Museum. It received an award for being one of the best museums in Europe. I wish I had gone there soon after arriving instead of 4.5 months later... It gives a good idea of the city's history and the area's development and place in history.
Directly behind the museum is the free municipal parking lot. If you've got a car, then you should be able to park here. But, when it comes to parking...don't be afraid to squeeze in anywhere you can find. They park anywhere and everywhere here. The city really should do something about it by commissioning the building of parking garages, but hell will probably freeze over before that happens. Regardless, the only rule to parking is to not block a driveway or dumpster.
Be prepared for the winter weather. This isn't the kind of glamorous Greece you think of or see on TV. It's cold, quite windy, rainy, and does snow during the winter. The summers are hot. Kiki
Visit Perea.
by hamouras
Visit Perea Perea is at the eastern end of Thessaloniki. You can reach it by bus or car. During the night it has probably the best view at Thessaloniki (sorry I don't have any photo to show you). There are a lot of bars and tavernas where you can sit down and enjoy the view.
Moni Lazariston Theatre complex
by Yiannis2000
Moni Lazariston was built in 1886 by the monks of Saint Paul Vincent battalion, who became famous from their headquarters in the church of Saint-Lazare in Paris. Monis Lazariston functioned as a Seminary until 1913 and after that it had a lot of usages till 1978 (division headquarters, hospital refugee centre). It was rated as ruined in 1978, because of the damages the earthquakes had caused and it was abandoned. In 1980 the whole building was declared as preserved due to its historical importance.
In 1983 it was bought by the Greek government for the 2300 celebrations of Thessaloniki and it was characterised as a cultural centre of Western Thessaloniki. It was integrated in the programme of the grand constructions that were carried out by the organisation of Cultural Capital of Europe "Thessaloniki 1997" and in 1996 the works of restoration and the annex to the original building started. The complex of Moni Lazariston was completed in 1997 and started being open to the public gradually with theatrical performances, concerts and other activities.
Moni Lazariston is approached from the centre via the Lagada street. From the com.harbour, via Dendropotamou Avenue & the road Akriton. From the Eastern regions, take the bypass motorway.
Airport to Railway Station / KTEL Bus Terminal
by StefanosS
From the Airport take the bus #78. You have to cross all the city from East to West to find the Railway Station or the KTEL Bus Terminal. Check the map of #78 bus line, it is in Greek but very clear and easy to understand.

The start-terminal at the bottom is the airport, the end-terminal at the top is the KTEL Bus Terminal. KTEL is the common name for long-distance bus services in Greece. The last bus-stop on the map before the KTEL Terminal is the Railway Station.
Very New York
by WillAntoniou about Meat Me
Meat Me is a very cool restaurant located in the heart of the Modiano Market. It's well taken care of, all of the food is great. It's a little on the pricey side, but it's worth it, trust me.
It sort of reminds you of the greek equivalent of a trendy restaurant in the meat packing district of New York City. The food is pretty eclectic. Not quite Greek, not quite anything really. My favorite thing was probably the ice cream I had after my meal, but that's not to say that the meal wasn't good because it was fantastic. I'm confident that you order pretty anything and be more than satisfied.
