Help getting to the gay bars

by AmericanDreamin

I am currently a Canadian studying in Greece for the year and wanted to find where some places are near my apartment. I was wondering if someone could navigate me from the area where I live (near the Routonda)on Armenopoulou to the one of these 3 clubs Bigaroon, Bar Me, and Elvis. Also if someone could tell me what they typically wear at these clubs it would be useful.

Try this site:

Hope that helps.

Any google search would be a good start.

Re: Help getting to the gay bars

by magdaki

hi.
Bigaroon is on Pavlou Mela street, just off the corner with Palaion Patron Gremanou str. it is one of the oldest gay bars in town that i know off

elvis is on Nikis str, the seafront, i don't think it is a gay bar, maybe more like gay friendly. you can read reviews about it here:

http://trustedplaces.com/review/greece/thessaloniki/bar-pub/1e26t7j/elvis

people tend to dress casually for these places. they are not clubs, but coffee bars. you can go during the day as well as at night, so things are not formal at all.

Bar me, i've never heard of, sorry.

i hope i helped

by steve58

You do not have to tip at the restaurants - they are included in the bill. Culture is 'westernized' so you do not have to worry... Beautiful women, expect some vocal expressions of admiration by Greek males!

Movies

by DrexelDragon about Ster

The Ster movie theatre plays most of the latest major releases that come out of Hollywood when they are released to Europe. You have to call up and reserve tickets. It's not like buying movie tickets in the US where you can walk up and purchase tickets. If you do that here, then you are only going to be buying what's left over, or you are buying someone's ticket that wasn't picked up or cancelled. They have assigned seating which sucks. I have only gone here with a Greek companion.

Overall, it's okay, and all the english movies are played in english and have Greek subtitles. Avoid going here on Sunday and Monday evenings as those are the big movie nights here in Saloniki for some reason.

New Runway @ Thessaloniki Makedonia Airport

by Pakistaniguy

When I was waiting in the departure lounge i saw these pictures on the wall, showing how they extended the runway. It was really nice to see the runway starting from the Sea.... So, i thought that i should share it with you as well.

The Picture on the left if of the Runway before Extension.

Cafés abound

by mikey_e about Groups of places...

Don't go to the cafés that are right by the water in Plateia Aristotelou or even along the waterfront on Nikis. They're ridiculously overpriced given that the coffee they serve is usually not all that good. If you want something better, concentrate on the the cafés along Aristotelou that are closer to the Roman Agora, north of Tsimiski. The prices are lower and the coffee they serve is usually better (i.e. stronger hehe). FRAPPE! I think I developed a serious addiction in Thessaloniki.
