Anatolia Hotel: Ok. for a Short stay!
Our children who live abroad spent 3 nights at this property latly, and we came to the hotel for a while to surprise them. My review is based on the little time we spent here and also how our children described their stay.
Staff: Friendly and discreet. They gladly stored in the fridge things that my children had purchased and had to take along.
Room: The room was small but it was impeccably clean and the bathroom was nice too. Of course you get what you pay for, because there are rooms which are bigger and nicer anyway.
Location: 15 minute walk to the city centre.

Atlas: Good and cheap hotel
It was a simple hotel, but clean and cheap (20 Euro per a single40). Showers were in the corridor. There was a fan.

Backpacker's Refuge: Backpacker's Refuge
Backpackers Hostel is a great "hostel" (actually is more an apartment than a hostel).
It's 15 min by foot from the White Tower.
It has a large living room, bath and a 6 bed bedroom.
Nina, the owner is great.

Thessaloniki Backpackers Hostel: The nicest hostel in Thessaloniki
This is the smallest but newest hostel in Thessaloniki. It is so much better than the old youth hostel (that was shut down anyway). It has six beds only! But with fantastic staff that make the biggest effort so you get the most out of the city. They rent for free bicycles and you can ride along the waterfron (it is not pleasant on the streets!), but the waterfront is 30m from the hostel anyway! there is also free internet and washing-drying machine. There are 2 bathrooms, one of them really nice. They charge 15 euro per bed, you can contact them at email@example.com
the cleanest hostel - the best staff

Thessaloniki Hostel - Backpackers Refuge: Backpacker's oasis
The only cheap option in Thessaloniki is this hostel. But it is good. Very small, but clean and well organised. It is also a member of the "Balkan Hostel" network so you can get a further discount if you are coming another "B.H".
Clean and cheap.

Easyflat: Thessaloniki Apartments
Although I usually go for a hostel, this time we where a group of four and we decided to rent an apartment in Thessaloniki. Not only because it was cheaper this way (50 Euros per day), but also because it gave us the feeling of living in a residential environment and of course more privacy. The flat they gave us was 100 m from the nice waterfront and we spent a great deal of time strolling in the sunshine. The flat could sleep up to 6, and each couple had their own room. The furniture was simple, but the kitchen was big and well equipped for our needs. It didn’t give us lots of options about activities so we eventually had to return to the hostel (Backpackers Refuge) which was near, to rent bicycles and book the “Uninhabited island hopping" expedition that was well worth it.
The manager of Easyflat is kind and knowledgeable, but is not around after check inn so ask your questions at the beginning. Staying in an apartment is nice, but if I was alone I would prefer the hostel
quiet residential area, clean apartment, lots of privacy, outstanding value for a group of people.

Thessaloniki Hostel Backpackers Refuge: Thessaloniki's new Hostel
The only youth hostel in Thessaloniki (Al. Svolou st.) is permanently closed. The best accommodation option for budget travelers now, must be Backpacker's Refuge at 15 Euros per night. It is more like a flat with a couple of dormitories rather than a big hostel, but the place is very clean and makes you feel like home. They have not many facilities other than a TV lounge, a kitchen, washing machine and internet, but the place is well run by a brother and sister with a lot of tips for the city. The main problem though is that you can't just turn up, but you must call in advance to arrange the meeting time so they can hand you the key. As you probably guessed there is not such a thing as a 24 hour reception. You can contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org. On the whole it is highly recommended.
Warm atmosphere, ultra clean with good connection to the train and bus terminal. Very very cheap!

In accomodation tips one...
In accomodation tips one should write about it's favorite place to stay, right? My flat of course!!! At least for me is great. Sorry about that. I guess you would expect me to give you some kind of hotel list. I haven't got a clue. However, if i happen to be there when you come, you are most welcome at my flat.
It's cozy, it's clean (most of the times), it's cheap and most important it's mine!
