Is there a free WiFi zone in Olympiaki Akti?

by pi2a

Hi all!
I wonder do you know if there is a free WiFi zone in Olympiaki Akti?

There aren't many free WiFi public access points in Greece and last August I did not notice any at Katerinoskala (as we call Olympic beach in greek). U may be lucky and find one somewhere around though. Good luck

"Uninhabited Island Hopping" -Robinson Crusoe Expe

by sahara_stroller

The best experience in Greece could well be the "Uninhabited Island Hopping" - Robinson Crusoe Expedition.
An expedition that takes adventurous travelers to small uninhabited islets and islands in Northen Greece: We all met in the hostel (Backpackers Refuge). Our captain packed our gear and his in the little 4X4 pick up and load the 4 of us in his car. 100 km later we faced the raw beauty of the forest coming down the sea. In front of us we could see several islands and strips of land that created a secluded and crowdless area. We jumped on the tiny boat not knowing where we are heading. We landed on an island with deep blue waters and olive trees. For the next 4 days we lived a surreal experience of exploring beaches, islets, cooking our fish and all that in perfect harmony with nature. Captain Greg insists in minimum technology usage while in nature. He is knowledgeable of the waters and he has the aurora of a man who has traveled the world. This experience takes you to the ultimate nature and travelers who cannot part with comfort should give it a miss. If you do it however, you will never forget it!

Ladadika used to be an old market place which was almost abandoned/forgotten and about 10 years ago was converted to an area full of bars and cafes. It's probably the most 'In' area in Thessaloniki, whatever 'In' means.

City busses...

by Yiannis2000

The public transport system of Thessaloniki is rather poor, overcrowded unreliable buses, impolite personel and few lines. Tickets can be purchased from the Thessaloniki Urban Transport Organization (OASTH) desks 07.00 – 21.00, or from the automatic vendors inside the bus.

Taxis are no good either...

On arrival at the Macedonia International Airport Terminal of Thessaloniki you can use the bus Line 78, route Airport - KTEL /central bus station, which goes directly to the city center. It takes up to 60 minutes and costs 0.70 euro €, or take a taxi to the city centre. It takes 30 minutes and costs 15€ EUROS depending on traffic.
Airport to City centre: bus No 78
Railway Station to City centre: buses no. 2, 3, 8, 10, 11, 14, 17 & 37

Ladadika out of fashion....

by Yiannis2000

The locals have for now stamped the restaurants in the place as a tourist trap, the young clientele has found new favourite squares, but this historical area is central and it will revive, perhaps after the present bar owners go bankrupt...
Thessaloniki goes thru a tough recession, the average greeks there have much fewer money to spent on entertainment...
