Iskembe joints - Iskembe is a tripe based soup that claims to prevent hangovers as long as you eat it at 3:00am. In any large town or city there will be somebody selling Iskembe when you need it. what you see in the photo is not iskembe . iskembe is unphotographable .......

Up above the street
by DrexelDragon about Symphonies
I went here the other night for drinks, and I was impressed. I'd really like to go back there for dinner, because I just get the feeling that the food would be good. Symphonies' entrance is just off the corner, and you take the elevator up to the 5th floor where you have the main restaurant area. The next floor up is less eating area (although there are certainly tables, and you can order food up there) and more lounge. The bar is up there, and it is a round room due to its position on the corner of the building. It's neat.
The decor inside features a lot brown wood, and the lighting is just right. The music is played by a DJ, and he played good tunes. Beatles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Chemical Brothers, and other pop and 80's...props to a good job of mixing it up AND playing the music at a level that was not deafening. The top floor is also where you can sit outside during warm weather and have a view down to the street. Again...I was underdressed as usual, but most places aren't that pretentious about it, and as always I did not have a problem going in with my jeans, Merrell Mocs, and tshirt AND non leather jacket.
SKG- Makedonia Airport
by Yiannis2000
Many of my friends were surprised that Thessaloniki has such a small airport, but it is rapidly improving its standards in both ground and flights service. Few connections to European cities with international airlines, several charter flights, but many flights with local OLYMPIC Airways. For domestic flights choose Aegean airlines if you can! Several ATMs at the departure hall, but not at arrivals (applied Greek philosophy ???), bus 78 will cover the 15 kms to the city centre (and railway station) in 30-40 minutes, buy the 0.60 euro tickets in the bus.
Not everyone is either willing or in the position to give up air travel - despite the awareness that this mode of travel contributes significantly to the greenhouse effect. Hence, For people who are concerned in regards to the environmental ramifications of their air travel, a new service has now been created: "atmosfair".
Air-passengers can donate the equivalent amount for the greenhouse gases which were caused by the flight. The funds are invested in e. g. solar, hydropower, biomass, or energy-efficiency projects and thereby contributing to neutralize greenhouse gas emissions by the same amount that would be comparable to the aircraft's emissions. Thus, your donation helps to realize these projects !

The tavernas located in the city center near the Agora.
There are so many people eating here and everyone is enjoying life together. Mezes. These are small plates of delectable Greek appetizers. I recommend that you drink Tsipouro with your meal, which is the local drink of Northern Greece. Tsipouro is similar to Ouzo, but not as sweet nor as anise-seed flavoured, it is strong, smooth and ideal with the food.
