Thessaloniki Youth Hostel

Two of guests came over from this filthy hostel and they had the worst impressions, including the law standard of service... I would suggest that u avoid this option, although it is very very central, it is not so cheap considering how little u get!

I stayed here a couple of times already.
The price increased already 13 Euro/night during the low season even (spring 2006), might be higher for high season.

The place is dirty and filthy.

The owner is there to check you in at night (from 5pm or 7pm?) till about midnight. In the morning he shows up usually around 8am or 9am and stays till 12 noon. From then till he returns at 5pm or 7pm no check-in possible, you could leave something on a bed to occupy it though.

No lockers. Small things can be given to the grunchy hostel owner to be locked in the safe.

Make sure to bring a sleeping bag, no linen supplied.

The showers are in the basement, also quite dirty. I can't remember if the water is actually warm. The key for the gate to the showers can sometimes be found in the main hostl room when the owner is not there, then you could tkae a shower before checking in.

It's famous for dirty rooms and showers, very poor service level and lack of security. It is however incredibly cheap (EUR 8.00 per person) so if you are short of money and not afraid of anything, think of it.

Office closed between 11 AM and 7 PM. The hostel is not a member of EOT I believe.
