Arahova is only 12 km from Delphi and obviously, when you are in Arahova, you are heading to a visit of Delphi! Though Arahova has nothing really special to visit, it is pleasant and can be a good alternative for a hotel when visiting Delphi. It is doubtlessly more pleasant and cheaper than the modern city of Delphi as it has a life by itself and is not entirely dedicated to tourism!

There used to be special carpets produced in Arahova but I do not know if they can still be found or if they are now replaced by Chinese duplicates.

Sheep-fold on the slopes of Mount Parnassos

During our various travels throughout Greece, we have often seen interesting sheepfolds, most of the time hidden along small dirt roads. This one was in the Delphi-Arahova area, ie on the slopes of Mount Diakoura/Parnassos. It is unusually large with several long and very low buildings, built in stones and covered with heavy Roman tiles.

A Sports Paradise

Arahova offers various recreation and sports activities, beyond skiing, such as trekking, hiking, cycling and parasailing. The beautiful fields and nature trails are a source of relaxation and rejuvenation for the visitors. Guided trails are also available.

Monastery of Ossios Loukas - Crypt

Inside the crypt you can find the remains of Ossios Loukas and other saints, along with more beautiful frescoes.

Loukas Stereiotis was born in Aegina in 906. He was very spiritual and left his home as a teenager to live in isolation in central Greece. He later developed a reputation as a healer, and arrived in the area of the present monastery in 945. He settled and founded the monastery, and died in 953.
