Diana Palce a good place to stay
We stayed for a weeks holiday in May 2007, self catering in a studio apartment. We were very worried when we saw all of the reviews online. However, we had a fantastic holiday. The apartments were clean and well equiped. The staff very friendly and helpful. The Diana Palace has an excellent location. There are lots of lovely restaurants, too many to choose from. The people are lovely and cannot do enough for you. They especially love children are were very kind to our 4 year old daughter. They go the extra mile to help you have a very special holiday. The beach at Argassi is not very good as it is only a strip of not so good sand, but there are plenty of beautiful beaches very close to hand. Gerakas beach was the best one that we found and it was very close to Argassi. Alykes beach was beautiful too lots of lovely sand and shallow water which is great for children. We were very lucky with the weather too, it was 35C as they had a mini heat wave whilst we were there. We would love to go back to Argassi and we would stay at the Diana Palace apartments.
My boyfriend and i went to the Diana Palace in Sept 2006 , we were there with his parents. We went half board ,the food was lovely , and the hotel and staff were great especially George the waiter . i would go back to the Diana Palace again but i would go self catering because there are so many lovely places to eat. The rooms were nice and clean and the maids came in everyday, only one complaint, our balcony was tiny, the smallest there i think . Anyone going soon please tell George, Dave the Mackem says hi

These could be the worst holiday of my life...
Our holidays at Zakynthos Island could be the worst of my life, if we did not decide to leave Diana Palace from the second day and find another hotel! We booked two family studios at Diana Palace since June 2006 for the period 29-7-2006 to 5-8-2006. Our agreement with the Diana Palace included a family studio for two adults and two children and a family studio for two adults and one child. The price included half-board. We did not have the option not to take the half-board for that period, although we didn’t want to eat at the hotel. When we made the reservation of the two studios we insisted that we want comfortable rooms, comfortable balconies and kitchen with table and chairs as we have kids and we should pass plenty of time at the room. The staff at reservations department assured us to give us such rooms.
From the pictures and the description at the internet site of the hotel, we thought we had made a great deal with a very good family hotel. However appearance can be illusory! The photographs used at the website are very clever and beautify the appearance of the hotel. Question: Why really they offer only one photograph from the inside area of the rooms? Answer: Because the rooms are too small! They are a typical sample of the old philosophy for building hotels: make as many rooms as possible.
When we arrived at the hotel the reality was completely different from what we agreed. The rooms were extremely narrow and you can just sleep and not stay at the room at all. Balconies were the smallest I have ever seen and extremely oppressive. Kitchen was between the door of the room, the wardrobe and the door of the bathroom, therefore kitchen was uselessness. The baby-coat they gave us was designed for newborn babies although I informed them that my children was 3,5 and 1, years old. The worst of all was the dirty bed linen and the existence of hairs everywhere (bathroom, bed linen and floor). Also the light of the bathroom did not work. The rate that we agreed for the rooms was too much for what we finally found there.
The same evening we asked at the reception to change our rooms with other more comfortable, according to our agreement, but this was not feasible. Next morning we asked again to change rooms but nothing happened again. At noon we notify the management of the hotel for our decision to leave Diana Palace so as not to destroy our holidays and this was the first time that they tried to find us a new more comfortable room. But we had already found other amazing apartments (for less money!). We had already paid 2,5 days in advance at Diana Palace but they did not discuss at all to give us money back…
Some more remarks: The pool area was always crowded and full of noisy English teenagers, so a peaceful family can’t use this facility. The quality of the food at the dinner and breakfast was very bad. The dinning room was overcrowded and very hot. The parking of hotel DIANA could not differ from the whole picture of the hotel: it was incommodious, doing car parking a difficult project!. Argasi is a common place which is adapted in the English way of living and it has already lost the traditional colour of a Greek Ionian Island.
I wish that I had read hotel reviews for Diana Palace before booking. Of course I won't go there again and my advice to other guests of the beautiful Island of Zakinthos is to avoid staying at DIANA Palace hotel.
Loved the friendliness of this hotel
Brilliant Resaurants nearby especially the Three Brothers in which Anastasia made us feel very welcome. A lovely atmosphere with excellent food. You must try the prawns with tomato and garlic sauce on the starter menu worth going to Argassi for alone. This is the best Restaurant in town. The Diana Palace worth staying in an Apartment. Very safe. Make sure you use Helen and Costas's jet ski facilities on the beach. Helen is English and very helpful.
From Angie and Jane (married ladies on hols for the first time alone)
My wife and I flew to Zakynthos on the 28/10/06 for a week with a budget like most people. On arrival at the Diana Palace Hotel the staff were very friendly. We booked a twin room with a bathroom because these rooms are larger than a room with a double bed. The room we were allocated was a tiny room which had a double bed and shower cubicle (not what we asked for). The air condition wasn't working, the fridge/mini bar wasn't switched on with its door left open and all the drinks were hot, we also found the safe box in the wardrobe but no key. We complained immediately and was told they would give us a twin room the following day as we had requested from London but couldn't move us immediately as the allocation member of staff wasn't working untill the following morning at 10am. Surely to move to another room could be done by any member of the reception staff! On reporting the air condition and fridge/mini bar not working, we were told we had to pay an extra 35 euros for the air condition, 20 euros for the fridge/mini bar and 20 euros for the safe box! We expected to pay for the safe box but were surprised with the other two items as this was not specified in the brochure or anywhere else on the Diana Palace Hotel website. We had no choice but to pay as the temperature was very hot at around 30 degrees and we used the fridge to store our own drinks and snacks which saves alot of money. To our annoyance we paid an extra 75 euros. The following day were were moved mid day as the allocation staff was late coming in to work. We were moved to a bigger room with a bathhroom but still had a double bed. Once again we were frustrated as we had booked a twin room and was told the night before that one was available. We had no choice but to accept. We found the staff very friendly. The hotel was always kept very clean. The food was disappointing for a 4* hotel, rather plain and simple. On checking out 5/10/06 we were asked to pay 75 euros for the extra facilities we initially requested. I explained we had paid this on arrivalbut the hotel said they had no record, this was really frustrating as we had our coach waiting outside ready to take us to the airport. The hotel had made an obvious administration error but would not accept liability. I eventually lost my rag and said we are going to our coach, sort out your problems in your own time we have a plane to catch. The hotel staff were very rude on checking out. We would never return or recommend. We have als made a claim for compensation as we did not receive the accommodation we requested.
Good points about Diana Palace - The pool was great, no problems with sunbeds, the bar staff were friendly and could not do enough for you. The whole complex was clean and modern, and we could see the staff cleaning and maintaining the complex all through the day.
Neutral points - the air-con was necessary but we were a bit put out at the price of it, 35 euros for the week. The rep was never present, so when a problem arose (see below) it was impossible to resolve as she was never to be seen! The rooms were adequate although the facilities for self catering were poor, not enough pots pans etc. Also we had 3 people in our room, but only 2 chairs so we always had to have 1 sitting on the bed. The entertainment could have been a bit more inspired as well.
Bad points - when we arrived the room was still being cleared out, at 2.30 in the afternoon! A bit naughty when all you want after a day travelling is to sit down and have a cup of tea. Not happy about having to hang around waiting for them to turn out the room.
Also, another member of our party was accused of damaging a door in their room, when the damage was already there when we arrived. The rep was never to be seen, and after 3 days of being harassed by VERY rude reception staff, we decided to ignore the issue as we were going home anyway. Even so, made the last few days not nice. Also, as part of the process of trying to sort this out we asked to see the hotel manager and were told, again very rudely, that he "did not speak to guests".
Overall, a good holiday but we will be going elsewhere next time.
Not up to expectations
We don't feel this hotel merits a 4 star grading and we will not be visiting it again. The receptionists were generally unhelpful and more interested in control rather than satisfying their customers. However all the other staff, cleaners, waiters and kitchen staff were excellent. The room allocated to us was on the ground floor overlooking the swimming pool, noisy and not private. We could not be offered an alternative rrom, although room occupation was changing daily. Our friends who were accomodated in the newer self catering block, had much nicer rooms although some of the balconies were overlooked by neighbouring ones.
The pool area was small and crowded. The music was much too loud. Sun beds were touching each other enabling you to read the novels of the occupants of the sun beds on either side of you if you were short of reading material.
We also experienced a bathroom floor flooded with raw sewage which came up through a drain in the floor although this was dealt with very swiftly by the cleaning staff.
There were high extra charges for air conditioning and use of the room safe.
An excellent feature of the hotel was the restaurant, quality and variety of menu.
loved it, great hotel and staff

Back to Zakynthos chora
From Araxos Airport to Zakynthos
Does anybody know if there are regular buses from this airport to any location? I know I must somehow get to the port of Kyllini in order to hop on a ferry, but I'm hoping that Taxi is not the only alternative.
Re: From Araxos Airport to Zakynthos
Araxos airport is connected with bus to Patra from where you can catch the bus to Kyllini.I think there is not straight connection between Araxos and Kyllini. For more info call the airport customer service at (0030)2693023598.
In any case you have to check the schedule cause I don't know how regular the connection is.
Re: From Araxos Airport to Zakynthos
I wont be stuck then.
If there is a direct bus I´ll post it here.
