This is a tipical Greek hotel very clean slightly basic.
There is the main hotel with a dinning room for breakfast ans also a smart bar.
There are two swimming pools with quite a lot of sun beds. The hotel as plenty of space with some lawns as well
The pool bar was very good you could buy snacks or just have a drink.
There is the Picadilly restaurant on the main road part of the hotel with 10% discount for hotel guests.
We were staying in one off the buildings which was mainly self catering. The room had a shower room and limeted facilities for making you own meals there was a fridge and a two ring electric hot plates toaster and a kettle also provided.
Also the hotel as two entrances Ideal. one on the main road and the main entrace is up one of the side streets
A very friendly hotel the staff are great.
There is money exchange, safe deposit boxes also at the reception
Vere central to every thing.
great, but can be noisy at night especially if hot, need the doors open, unless you want to pay 5 euros a day for air con.
Small, not too busy, only british people, so sunbeds not always taken by Germans.
Good snack bar food.
Not so far from beach or town/nightlife, but far enough to avoid if you want to.
Only ten minutes from Airport, and only 10 euros if you want to get a taxi.
My stay at the cactus apartments lasted for 2 weeks in the summer about 7/8 years ago.
I did enjoy my stay, it was located in a good place, its just 250m from the beach and 275m from the busy resort centre. Its only 30 mins transfer from the airport so you aren't travelling for that long.
The complex has a really clean and well kept swimming pool, its not the biggest of pools, but its only a small complex.
We had an apartment to share between 4 and it was a really well kept small, neat little apartment with a balcony overlooking the pool. It was a matter of 5 seconds and we would be in the main bar downstairs.
The hotel has a large screened T.V in the complex with a small, fast paced bar open to both inside the small longue area and outside to the pool area.
The Noula is run by a family Noula being the Mother. I found it to be very basic, which is not uncommon in Greece. Clean and friendly and we had great sea views. The only problem I found was that the studios were set around a pool and bar and if you wanted any privacy It was a bit like being in a goldfish bowl. Also at night a bit noisy if people were drinking till late/early morning
The apartments are above Magdalena's bar, which is run by the owner's son. Initially, I thought it would be noisy at night, but we didn't hear a thing. The room had air-con at about 10 euro for the week (invaluable). The room was good - pine finished, in good order...although typical Greek style shower (ie not great).
If you prefer to cater for yourself and there are only 2 of you these apartments are ideal. Just of edge of the busy main streets so occassionally at night it can be noisy. Every room has a balcony & air con. Owners Angela & Dennis are always on hand if you have any problems and are very friendly. Rooms cleaned 6 days a week and linen changed twice a week. Review over small olive grove, home to Alex the donkey during the daytime. Accessible to facilities at the Hotel Mavrikos, short walk up the hill.
We booked through Thomson. Below is the Graces bar run by English couple Mike & Bella, who do a very good breakfast. During the day the car rental business across teh road can be noisy in terms of hearing the car wash and testing the returned scooters brakes, stops about 9pm.
Very friendly owners
One week at the beginning of August.
The hotel is a little isolated so it can get boring if you don't rent a car or a scooter. There is no real beach, only an acces to the sea through stones.
The hotel is located on a hill over the sea and you have a great view frommost of the rooms and from the pool and restaurant.
Friendly and helpful staff.
We stayed at this hotel in June, it is a three star hotel, and the rooms are basic, but quite large, and spotlessly clean. The hotel is right at the top of an hill so it,s a bit of a trek, but there are shops and bars on the way up. The staff where friendly and helpful. I would stay there again but wouldn,t recommend it to anyone who has trouble walking, but that,s only because of the walk up.
The hotel has a restaurant with panaramic views , you can see right across the sea to Kefelonia, the foods ok the nightly buffet was about £5.00 an head and there was plenty to choose from
The apartments were very good - roomy, clean, regular maid service.
The staff were friendly and helpful - especially Lynda, a Manchester lass, on reception.
Facilities are just ruight for families or couples. There is a reasonably sized pool, plenty of sunbeds (but no cushions).
Grassy play area for littl'uns and for the older ones a couple of pool tables and table tennis.
On site is a mini market and snack bar open until about 6pm as well as a bar for the evenings.
Entertainment is restricted to karaoke and bingo - and plane spotting!
Being close to the airport the planes come in very low over the neighbouring apartments. The double-glazing and shutters keep noise to a minimum. There are no flights between 10pm & 6am. Even then there are not that many flights.
Special tip if you are coming on a package holiday. Opt out of the coach transfers to and from the airport. We saved £30 and got taxis - 10euros each way.
It's nice to come straight out of terminal and hop in a taxi and not wait for the bus to fill up. It's only 5 minutes away.
Best of all is the return trip. Zakynthos airport is HORRENDOUS.. On arriving, three flights arrived close together and there is only one carousel.
Going back there were about five flights all due out within a couple of hours. The terminal is very small - only 3 check-in desks and even smaller departure lounge.
Passengers are kept in open pens outside until they are ready to check you in. And it can be VERY hot.
By opting for a taxi from Amaryllis you can leave the apartments an hour after the bus and save on queueing time.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Marelen, its very clean and has all the Amenities you need and nightly entertainment.
The hotel is situated in walking distance to the main road between Zakythos town and the busy resort of Laganas. On the main road you will find a host of tavernas, bars, cafes and arious shops.
There is a taxi rank right outside the hotel.
The hotel is 5 mintues from the airport, but the odd plane was'ent a Nuisance
Called the Panos hotel, but I would use the term loosley and prefer to call this accommodation a pension instead! Its fairly basic but clean which is always important in my book!
The staff were always friendly and polite.
There is a really nice pool here, which at the time I visited was a real bonus, there were not that many accommodations in Laganas which had pools at that time.
They serve continental breakfast.....bread, jam and coffee.
The location is good too, about 5 minutes walk from the main strip and 10 minutes to the beach.
The road like many in Greece isnt lit at night so you will need a torch.
Basic Greek hospitality. Good clean accomodation down the path through an an olive grove. The hotel is situated on the beach and there was abeach side bar serving sandwiches and cold drinks.
The pool area was a bonus after the sun had left the beach.
Plaza Pallas is run by Caterina and Spiros who make you feel very welcome. The apartments are very spacious and clean, with lots of storage space for clothes etc., Very close to the main street of the town and only a few minutes walk to the beach.
Lovely swimming pool and pool side snack bar.
Good location, near to shops, bars, beach etc.
The beach in Laganas is 9 km long!
Ideal, especially in May : nearly alone on the beach, even the sea respects the silence ...
only slow movements of the water, no wind ....
This photo shows the fantastic stretch of private beach near the hotel alexandra beach.
