More about Bitzaro Grande Hotel

Bitzaro Grande - Excellent Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member David-Jane_Brown

We have just returned from a 14 day lovely trip to Zante.
The Bitzaro Grande is very much a 4* Hotel. The staff are extremely helpful, and polite.
The room was spotless, and the bathroom, as far removed from the traditional Greek bathroom as you could imagine. This would grace any top British Hotel.
We had a balconied room overlooking the pool, with a double glazed patio door and a mosquito mesh door.
Each room has a limited version of Sky on TV.
The food was as good as you could expect for a buffet style, with plenty of choice.
The drinks were fine but the Greek wine is an acquired taste, and we didn’t manage to acquire it.
My only gripe would be that, as the Hotel is not totally All Inclusive, there seems to have been an arbitrary policy applying to what drinks and snacks would be included.
All this did was limit the cocktails and choice of snacks available.
In other reviews, there was mention of the Airport noise. Yes, you are very close but as there aren’t that many flights, I didn’t find it intrusive and it was easy to become a plane spotter!! It certainly made for a very easy transfer.
The pool was good and with both a baby pool and a Jacuzzi, you certainly felt to have the amenities.
The animation team of Thomas and Tina worked very hard to entertain you without being painfully intrusive, and this was easily the best Hotel entertainment I have ever experienced. Our 13 yr old son enjoyed being there and said so, ….getting more than a grunt out of a teenager is high praise indeed.
The Air conditioning is only available between 1400-1800 and then 2200-0600, but worked very well considering we were sweltering at 40-45 degrees.
I had been warned about Mosquitoes but again, these were not evident apart from one day when there had been rain in the afternoon.
The hotel is situated within easy reach of the beach, and yet is only 50 yds from the main road through Kalamaki so there are shops and restaurants very handy, if that is what you want.
Car Hire was cheap and a journey round the island could be done easily in a day.
I was really impressed with Zante and would go again, I can’t imagine there would be a better Hotel there than the Bitzaro Grande so I would be returning there.

Good hotel, but not for couples.

Just returned from a 2 week stay at The Bitzaro Grande Hotel with my boyfriend.
We were meant to stay at The Bitzaro Palace Hotel, but due to a problem with a guest staying there we had to be moved to The Grande. This was rather awkward, seeing as we had arrived at 6am, and the reception staff did not deal with us very well at all.
We were told however we could still use the amenities of The Bitzaro Palace Hotel, and so decided to stay at The Grande, with the only other option being to search for Hotel's elsewhere.

The Hotel itself is quite good, although I do think it is more orientated towards families as the entertainment during the day is quite noisy, the music is loud particularly during the Water Aerobics starting at 11am where they turn the volume up! It is rather difficult to try and sleep any later than 10am when the music starts, and if you don't like early mornings then it's quite annoying. The music is the same every morning for the Water Aerobics, so after two weeks it became unbearable!
If you're looking for a relaxing stay, I'd recommend The Bitzaro Palace as it's much quieter and there's no entertainment during the day.

Facilities were good though, the rooms were clean and comfortable, although I wouldn't even suggest they came anywhere close to what I would equate with a 4 star Hotel in the UK, however I have been told that as far as Greece goes then it's similar to other 4 stars. The rooms were cleaned daily, by friendly cleaning staff, and towels were changed frequently also.

The food was good, and the choice varied daily. We never had the same thing twice, which was sometimes a shame particularly when I enjoyed something!

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at The Bitzaro Grande, however I would say it's more for families than couples, unless you want to take part in games and activities and you like loud music every morning!

Best Greek Hotel we have ever stayed in

by TripAdvisor Member MO&NORAHREVIEW

Just arrived back from Bitzaro Grande what a wonderful Hotel
Everything you could wish for in a Hotel the best Hotel we have ever stayed in {in Greece}
The Hotel is small very friendly the staff are all so pleasent and make you feel very welcome
The rooms very spacious and exceptionally clean always
The food was exceptional always plenty of choice and top marks to the chef his evening meals were lovely we hope it is the same Chef next year as we will definately return
The Pool area was beautiful plenty of sunbeds and areas to place them no matter what time of day you wanted to sunbathe we always got a sunbed and may i say they were very comfortable beds also
Entertainment was by the pool bar which in the evenings was a little chilly so take something warm
Entertainment was only amongst Guests intermingling which was good as it got everyone to know each other and could be good fun Thankyou to Thomas and Tina who worked very hard especially Tina all day she helped to make those who wanted to join in activities and in the evening Thomas was a very funny Bingo caller all in all we had a lovely time

Perfect!

Just returned from a week at the Bitzaro Grand. It took a while to bribe my other half into spending the extra few pounds on going for this hotel, rather than a normal self catering apartment, but it was well worth it.

Excellent location, near beach and main strip. Lovely big room with balcony and nice bathroom.

Fantastic food. I've done All inc before but not in Europe and I was worried it could be a bit bland but the choice was wonderful. We never had the same meal twice and felt the need to eat out only once! Eating on the terrace in the evening was a real pleasure.

Entertainment was fab. Not intrusive and lots of fun if you wanted to join in (I never thought I would enjoy playing bingo but it was a scream!) Don't worry if you're not into hotel entertainment - there is plenty of place on the upper terrace if you just want a quiet drink.

Be warned about the strength of the cocktails - we only made breakfast once!

Overall fab hotel in a great location. This was my second trip to Kalimaki and I think that the resort itself has gone a little commercial in the five years since I was there - If you want culture you won't find it here. If, however, you want rest and relaxation in a lovely hotel then this is for you.

Tip - If you are booking with a travel agent where they charge extra for transfers then I'd get a taxi. Kalimaki is only 3km from the airport. We got a taxi for 15 EURO to the hotel and (strangely) 10 EURO back to the airport ( Thomas Cook wanted to charge us £40 for the same journey by coach). It's much nicer than having to wait on a hot coach for everybody to get their bags and much quicker as you don't have to go via other hotels.

Overall excellent hotel - the best I have stayed in on the Greek Islands.

Well above average

by TripAdvisor Member ollythinker

This hotel is well above average compared to the other hotels in the resort. It is very clean and modern and will satisfy those travelling on a limited budget. When we went in July the gardens and balcony flowers made the hotel look great.

I went with my girlfriend, and although I would agree with other reviews that it is family orientated, we had a great time. The entertainment can be annoying, but only if you're a real kill joy. It is simple and reppetative but everbody joins in and has a great time. Don't get me wrong, I hate butlins and red coats and all that but for some reason it wasn't all that bad.
Try to get a seat on the balcony after diner and watch the enterntainment from up there if you don't want to join in.

The staff are very friendly and will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. The food was average, but from reading many reviews you are not going to find a la carte on an all inclusive for under £600.

The beech was good, you only have to wander for a few minuites to get away from the crowds. The water was beautiful and I think we saw a turtle!

This isn't the real greece and it isn't a falaraki booze town either. It's nicely in between. If you have been to Greece before than expect more of the same but in a very nice hotel.

tipsy and topless tour

by TripAdvisor Member asparagras

Where do you start! Zante airport completely unorganised and chaotic. Transfer to hotel very quick. Very helpful night porter (even tho his favourite word was shh when we were laughing that much trying to get up the stairs after an overload of 'sex on the beach cocktail'. Food was totally fantastic, something for every nationality. Different menu every night that was cooked to perfection. Rooms were clean, spacious and welcoming. (Thankyou Christos for mending my shower!) Pool area perfect for relaxing, sunbathing and listening to Thomas' wonderful tunes. Thanks to alex and lisa for the games which we could not join in due to Niki and Christos making such superb cocktails. Us four ladies could not have enjoyed it more, nor could any of the staff have been more helpful. The holiday, hotel and whole place is Grande by name, and grande in every other sense as well. Well recommended to everyone. Topless and tipsy tour are returning in June 2007 for another go. See you soon, love Suzanne, Niki, Ann-Marie and Georgi xxx

Great Place to stay !!!!

by TripAdvisor Member Massging

Stayed for 1 week 24Sept to 1st Oct with another couple and 3 friends and we all had a great time. We all found the hotel was to the highest standard and would recomend this to anyone to stay here. Rooms were big for european standard and were cleaned daily and the staff were friendly and very helpfull. The standard of food was good always plenty of choice and loved the cheesecake !!! The location was great it was near the beach and Laganas was only at €6 in a cab away if you wanted to go out so happy days.
If I was to go back to Zante I would def stay here !!

Friendly and Comfortable Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member Margam11

I selected this hotel after reading the good reviews on this site and I was not disappointed. The hotel was clean and comfortable, with friendly staff providing good service. The food was the best I've experienced in an all inclusive package. I was able to relax and unwind after a very busy and demanding summer. If I were to visit Zante again, I certainly would not hesitate going back to this hotel.
Thank you to the review writer who advised the use of a taxi instead of the coach transfer to/from the hotel. This was indeed cheaper and quicker.

hiya there... iv been working in zante the last 2 summers.. look really dont worry about anything... ull see when ur there... zante doesnt work like that... no1 plans ANYTHING... u will never see adds for staff, u will never see appartments advetised anywhere except zante! ... u have 2 book a 1 or 2 week hol.. depending on how confident u are.. when u get there have fun a couple of days.. just relax.. b on hol... then get really pisd go in2 sum bars.. ask who the manager is and just go over and ask if theyr looking for staff.. just be friendly and fun... ull prob have about 2/3 jobs in ur time... people get bored and move on so easily.. its not about commitment or work its about having fun... so thats y its all so laid back. appartments r so easy 2 find.. almost every bar has apartments above them, loadsa hotels will do workers rooms.. e.g iworked in a bar the last 2 summers, the owners have a hotel aswell... so i stayed there... b4 that i stayed above another bar... there are hundreds of places 2 stay and the workers all get really close so u meet people looking 4 room mates all the time... after a few months u know evry1 and where evry1 is living and who is looking for rooms etc! its well easy.. dont worry or try 2 plan.. honestly, none of it will work out.. all u can do is get over there and then get sorted!! :p! hoep u have fun! xxxx ill see you there probably... not that u know who i am!! lol! xxx
