The Town Hall
One of the largest in the world (!) as they say, the magnificent town hall of Ermoupolis, mark of old times of prosperity It is exactly what the photo shows, what I miss. to turn from the coast by car or bike and see this incredible view.
THE TOWN HALL
The Town Hall of Ermoupoli is the most imposing building in Ermoupoli. It took 22 years to be built, from 1876 to 1898.
Ernest Ziler was the architect and Mayor was D. Vafeiadakis.
It is open for the public in the morning and sometimes on Saturdays and Sundays.
On the 1st May that we were is Syros, it was open.

the 'Apollon' theatre
of great importance, this late 19th century theatre was made as a replica of the famous Milan Opera house.
The entrance is 2 euros, there is a small exchibition of items of famous artists from Syros, if you are lucky you will be able to follow a play too.

The construction was financed by the state and the city .
Nowadays, the building houses offices of the Municipality of Ermoupolis, Courts and other public services.
By a Ministerial Decree of 1980, the building was considered to be a work of art.

AGIOS NIKOLAOS (SAINT NIKOLAS CHURCH)
Syros has many churches (Orthodoxs and Catholics). The most interesting among them are, the Assumption of Virgin Maria, Saint Dimitrios (Agios Dimitrios) and Saint Nicolas.
We visited the church of Saint Nicolas (Agios Nikolaos, Agios in greek means Saint)M in Ermoupoli.
It took 61 years to be finished the church in 1905.
