Santorini (Thira)
by Jillworld
OK, I suppose I didn't need to scan this many photos of one island, but the beauty of Santorini, in the Cycladic Island group, will make any tourist snap-happy! It is so picturesque that you cannot possibly help taking great photos! This photo is of the town of Fira, where we stayed at the Thira Hostel.
Another Oia view.
Here we are at the Red Beach - most of Santorini's beaches are of black volcanic sand!
The villages of Santorini are built perched atop the cliffs of a submerged volcanic crater. It is spectacular, as you can see. That is Oia in the distance, we walked there from Fira - a long, tiring, but highly recommended activity. DO NOT forget your camera!
A small church discovered on our walk to Oia.
A perfect place for lunch! Greek salad of course!
View from Oia town. You can see Fira in the distance, that's where we walked from! We did not walk back however, were fortunate enough to hitch a nice ride!
Oia - wish these steps took me to MY home!!
