More about Enigma Hotel Apartments
Have just returned from my wedding in Santorini - stayed at the Enigma apartments which were fantastic and the staff very helpful. I would strongly recommend an apartment with a jacuzzi, which you can sit in with a cold drink and watch the sun set.
The apartments are in an excellent location right in the centre of Fira, while still being very quiet, and are lovely.
The wedding itself (just the two of us) was held on the premises and was excellent - would strongly recommend santoriniweddingplanners.com if you fancy a wedding on santorini.
Enigma is perfect
I stayed 11 days in Santorini at Enigma Apartments and Suites (Hotel) at end of May/ beginning of June , 2006. This is an excellent time of year to visit Santorini. The weather was perfect, and just enough people/tourism to be fun and charming. Santorini is a great place for couples as it is romantic.
Enigma has the ideal location in Fira. Fira is the capital of the island, and has a little of everything, including great views, good restaurants and clubs, shopping, museum and easy transportation to everywhere on the island and the boat port. So, if it is your first time to Santorini, I recommend Fira because you will have a great experience with everything.
I couldn't have been happier with Enigma. It has the best location, the best service, the warmest staff and hospitality, and the actual structure is built solid, and with traditional historic Greek charm and style, through and through. It is the real thing! Their hospitality made me proud to be of Greek heritage, and I saw that they were equally nice to all their guests, regardless of where they were from or how long they were staying. They made you feel comfortable like family, and at same time were always professional and on top of things, ready to serve/assist you , to gaurantee a wonderful experience/ vacation.
I look forward to returning to Santorini someday, and to stay again at Enigma in Fira. There is another town nearby , in Oiea, which is also nice, but offers less things to do than Fira, and in that town, there is a hotel called Esperas Hotel, which is also very nice. I only mention it, because , as both are very desireable ( the most desirable) , they are often both full.....so it is important to book ahead of time. As they are both small and charming, do not worry if hotel is at full occupancy during your stay , because the are small and charming. Although Enigma was at full occupancy, I felt like I had the whole place to myself ( in a good way).
The receptionists , Chrisoula and Antonie, were exceptionally nice, and made for a perfect trip. I hope to return soon to Enigma, and would recommend it to my friends and family.
We have just returned from Santorini where we stayed for one week in the Enigma Appartments in Fira (June 06). There are 7 or 8 appartments and we stayed in the mid-range ‘standard suite’ – which is built into the cliff with a lounge, double bed in alcove, a further double bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. Highly recommended! The ceilings are high and vaulted and all fittings are high quality and modern. The a/c works well and makes the suite a wonderful cool retreat from the heat of the town. We had our own patio area with a table and parasol overlooking a fabulous view of the Aegean, the volcano and the caldera, with the cruise ships below and a beautiful sunset every evening. You choose your breakfast each day and this is served when you want on your patio private. On this occasion we chose not to pay the extra for a Jacuzzi, but they do look good! The staff is great - really friendly and helpful. We would recommend this to anyone (except those who cannot manage the many steps) – it’s a lovely place, peaceful, cool and in a superb location. And, by the way, we traveled there from Rhodes on a direct Sky Express flight – it’s a good service which not many people seem to know about.
My wife and I, along with a Greek friemd have just spent 4 days at the above appartments; everything about the the place was excellent, above all the friendliness and help provided by the staff - from the reception area to the people cleaning the rooms.
Admittedly my wife and myself stayed in one of the top priced suites, a huge room, tastefully decorated with antique and reproduction furniture, cooking facilities, outside warm Jacuzzi and flat screen TV. Our friend's room was smaller, but no less tastefully equipped. The situation is amazing, on the face of the cliffs, overlooking the sea and in the centre of Fira, most of the beaches are 6-8 kms from the centre ( accessible by regular bus services ) though Enigma has an arragement with a neighbouring hotel to use their pool.
One word of warnig, the appartments would not be too suitable for persons with walking difficulties ( this is probably true for Santorini as a whole ), from the entrance to the bottom appartment there are 127 steep steps; in fact our friend who has a hip problem had to change her room to the first level, which was more manageable.
Amazing People...Not to mention the view
Never have done this before, probably will never do it again, but this place deserves it! Small and personal, this hotel was absoulutly perfect. Chris who works the desk during the day, completely made our trip. She gave us the perfect ideas for what to do...things we may have never heard of or considered, but were exactly what we needed. The staff was so pleasant and willing to help. The rooms where simple but nice. A custom breakfast is deleivered to your room everyday at the time you choose. How about having your breakfast in your pj's overlooking the Caldera everymorning?! Overall the most pleasant hotel experience I've even had.
Enigma has it all
I've recently returned from a working holiday on Santorini as a photographer and was pleased to find Enigma even better than i had visualized on the web. The room was very special, full of character , really clean with everything i needed, and anything else i needed by way of electronic bits and pieces was cheerfully sourced free of charge. The breakfast included is also worth noting. The only thing that matched the exceptional view and central location was the super friendly and attentive staff. Thanks heaps Chris, Antony and all the crew. Keep up the great work, cheers Melissa & David. Melb. Australia
Great hotel and perfect location
We stayed at the Enigma for 4 nights and 5 days! We would recommend this hotel. The staff at the hotel - Chris and Antonio are very nice and helpful. Chris recommend many local restaurants and sights to see. We actually ate at almost every one of the restaurants and they were all great recommendations! The location of the hotel is wonderfully central to everything on the island. The bus station is right around the corner that will take you everywhere on the island. The sights of the volcano are gorgeous from the hotel. Would definitely recommended.
YOU MUST STAY HERE!
My husband and I just got back from staying 5 nights at the Enigma apartments. We loved this place from the moment we stepped into the reception area. Adonis was at the front desk when we arrived and his friendliness and attention was incredible and so genuine. The same is true for Chris (she had the morning shift) and Roman who brought down our breakfast every single morning. Both Adonis and Chris would always ask where we were going and they would give us suggestions on what to do and how to get there.
The apartment itself was beautiful, we had the 2 bedroom apartment (#7) with our own terrace where we had breakfast every morning. The rooms were spotless and the air conditioner worked well. They even provided us with a complimentary bottle of Santorini wine when we arrived which we thoroughly enjoyed while watching the sunset.
Even trecking up the 120 steps to get to the lobby every day didn't bother us!
The close, personal service and attention we received here makes this hotel an absolute must-stay.
Great Stay at the Enigma
We were two couples that stayed in a jacuzzi suite at the Enigma.
We stayed for three nights the first week of October, and were blessed with exceptional weather and perfect sunsets, that were
viewed from the patio right outside our suite.
Cris was a wonderful asset, suggesting restaurnts and offering all the needed island info. On one occassion, we commented that the service at one of the restaurants wasn't very good, and she directly spoke to the owner about it.
All the staff is friendly and efficient. Roman brought us the fabulous breakfast every morning. It is really such a nice extra to have breakfast brought at the time you want, set up on the patio.
I can only comment on our suite, which was wonderful - four star all the way. The location is perfect, and climbing the stairs is good exercise. We would highly recommend the Enigma!
Great hotel & great customer service!
My wife and I have just returned from our visit to Santorini for our honeymoon!
We stayed in the best hotel ever! We choose Enigma among other hotels because of all the good reviews we read from other guests and i would like to point that the rooms are much better than they look in the web site. As we were told they were recently renovated and they are all very tastefully furnitured in a traditional style of the Cyclades. We stayed for one night in a studio apartment and then moved in the Jacuzzi suite for 5 more days and had a wonderful time due to the staff's outstanding customer service. The studio was small but very cosy, just what we had in mind: a traditional cave apartment with stairs going down to our bathroom. They offered us a bottle of local wine upon our arrival to enjoy the spectacular view from our balcony! The next day the porter helped us moving to the suite carrying our suitcase from one room to the other. It was very important to have him because we had to walk up few steps to our new room but all the staff at Enigma is very helpful! The suite was even better! Our patio was even bigger and we had our breakfast there delivered every morning the time we liked enjoying the view and our private spa! I wanted to especially commend Chris, our daytime concierge who was probably the friendliest and most helpful person we met during our entire 18 day trip in Greece. She helped us with everything, giving us a "presentation" about the island, to recommending and making reservations for us at a wonderful romantic restaurant in Firostefani and the amazing tour we took to the Volcano and hot springs during the sunset time on a beautiful boat called "Thalassa" which means "sea" in Greek. She was outstanding.
Our recommendations do not come frequently and that due to our extensive worldwide travel schedule, we have a "high bar" of standards for customer service.
We would definitely recommend the Enigma to others and would only stay there during our next trip to Santorini.
Thank you for giving us hopes that good customer service is still possible. Alex.
