Catholic Cathedral
by steventilly
The catholic cathedral stands a bit further around the caldera path on the way to Firostefani, and just a little way back off the front. It's easy to find though because of its tall, colourful bell tower. It forms part of a little complex along with the monastery of dominican nuns and the small church associated with that. Being set back from the front its a bit quieter around here than other parts of Fira and in fact we never saw another soul while we were looking around there. The colours used on the buildings in this area are a delight, making a pleasant change from the usual blue and white.
Perissia, Santorini

My brother and I in front of the church built in the mountain.
This picture is taken on top of Ancient Thira you can drive up if you go to Kamari but lots of people including us hiked up from Perissia it was hot but the footing was pretty easy. The view behind us is Kamari beach which is the other black beach.
This is the red beach you have to get there by boat or by driving towards Akrotiri then hiking over the side of the mountain (not as bad as it sounds). It's quite busy considering there really isn't much development.
Sorry this picture is a little dark this was taken at the Veggera Hotel I stayed here in 1998 it's more luxurious than the other hotels in Perissia but if you're looking for a more formal hotel on the beach in Santorini I would suggest this hotel. They have a great pool, restaurant and are directly on the beach.
I am feeding these donkey's that beloned to very hard of hearing old man but he was so happy that I liked his donkeys he talked to us for long time. I can't think of what this town is called but it's one of the few inland village (its not Melaghori)
