More about Mill Houses Studios & Suites
A lovely stay at Mill Houses
This hotel has views to die for and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly.
We booked a studio and to be honest we felt like the poor relations compared to the people in the suites. Our studio was at the top of the cliff side where as the suites were at the bottom by the pool, bar, reception etc. I have to admit our studio was pretty basic for what we paid and didn't really live up to our expectations.
Having said that we had a nice shared balcony where we could sit in the shade and read when it got too hot and a lovely breakfast of fruit and greek yoghurt is brought to your balcony in the morning which is really lovely.
Loved the Mill Houses
We stayed at the mill house for 3 days in June and absolutely loved it. The manager - Manolis was great. They picked us ap at the airport, and upon arrival to the hotel were greeted with glasses of champagne. The room they first ofered us had a partial view, and se we asked if they could give us a different room. They did and we loved it. We had a patio where we would sit and watch the sunset every evening. The views were amazing. The breakfast was very nice and served on our patio table once we called to tell them that we were ready for breakfast.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
The most romantic place on earth
I went to Santorini with my wife and found that the Mill Houses hotel was the perfect place to stay for a romantic quiet getaway. I shall return. The service was Excellent and the room was gorgeous. It had a jacuzzi and a wonderful terrace witha view of the caldera where you can eat breakfast in the morning or enjoy some champagne at night. The staf was always very helpful and the rooms were very clean. I strongly recommend.
We've just return from Santorini. Our staying in mill Houses was a wonderful experience.
Excelent location,astonishing views,absolute silence.
The staff was very helpful ans friendly.Rooms very clean.
We had a problem with the toilette and they tried to resolve it rapidly.Since it was impossible, they move us to another room.(not so good, but good enough).
Breakfast is served in our balcony, which is very nice.
I recomend this hotel without doubts
Lovely apartment, blissful location
My girlfriend and I stayed at Mill Houses for a few days in mid-March 2008. We read previous reviews about the hotel on this website and contacted the hotel directly to enquire further. Our emails were responded to promptly and once we finalised our dates our reservation was confirmed quickly, with transport from the ferry promised on arrival.
Our contact at the port was a friendly chap, who drove us to the hotel and pointed-out a few of the sights and attractions. The view of the caldera was as awe-inspiring as promised, and the studio apartment we had booked was clean and tastefully-decorated. We loved it.
The icing on the cake was the arrangement for breakfast - you call reception between 0830hrs and 1000hrs and it gets brought to your apartment in about 5 - 10mins. None of your British fry-up here; the healthy Greek breakfast is not only tasty but filling.
The only criticism was the lack of a shower curtain - it did result in a wet floor until housekeeping got in - although that was only about an hour after breakfast was served so not a big deal.
Another point to note was that whilst we didn't fancy a dip in the pool, it was clean and available for use if desired. We could see in our walk around the area that many of the other apartment/hotel complexes didn't have their pools available for use. Another degree or two of temperature and I'd have been in!
Would love to return to Santorini again, and would happily stay in Mill Houses - without a doubt.
“Excellent place to stay - lovely suites”
We are a couple from the Netherlands and are both 40 years old. In April we stayed for two weeks in Mill Houses Suites. It’s perfectly located in Firostefani and has a stunning view of the caldera. The hotel is beautiful and you feel immediately at home. The staff is very friendly and professional and do anything in their power to make your stay comfortable and unforgettable. The hotel is built in Santorini style and is beautiful decorated with flowers. The room service breakfast is nice..with nice view... caldera. These wonderful views you will find everywhere in the hotel, also from the pool with comfortable loungers. We stayed in an apartment which was very spacious and well decorated and furnished. The cleaning lady did a great job keeping it clean. Also our respect goes to the man who carried our luggage from our room up to the main road, 74steps!!!!! And he still stays friendly and keeps smiling. We had an unforgettable stay here and we will definitely come back here when we are in Santorini.
Wonderful Veiws for a romantic Honeymoon
The Location of this hotel is exceptional! If your budget allows, I highly recomend the Mill Suite where we stayed, it is a beautiful space with "cave Like" feel, and incredible terrace featuring a hot tub for 2. The rooms are well stocked, coffee makers, fridge, and all kitchen utensils you need. I can highly recomend Mill Houses, the operators really do care about their venue and your happiness in staying there.
You get a better view of the sunset than in Oia, where people wait for up to 1 hr to get a good viewing location, which this hotel has from its balconies and terraces. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the hotel has Free WIFI.
While it is very difficult to see what rooms look like from their website, all rooms we saw were lovely (Several from the Honeymoon & Traditional Suite class and also the Mill Suite). Breakfast is also good. This location is actually by far superior to Fira itself, due to the sunset views which are blocked by the headland in Fira. This and the Fira area prices for food and souveneers are quite a bit cheaper than Oia, with many more choices also. The Balconies are not all that private, but none are in this area, and everyone is looking at the view anyway not at you on your balcony.
It is also a little hard to find the first time, take their transfer (Same price as the taxi when you arrive but they are already waiting for you), and the driver will be able to direct you to it no problem from where they drop you.
In summary, I rate this place on Location and Quality of the rooms, including free breakfast and internet, with close proximity to numerous choices for food and shops!
Incredible Hotel, Fabulous Views!!!!
Santorini has to be one of the dozen or so most beautiful places on earth. The main town of Fira, built terrace style into the cliff face and overlooking the caldera and Aegean, is a panoply of beautiful houses, friendly tavernas, winding picturesque streets, and great boutique hotels. At every step, and every time you turn a corner, you think you're in a postcard.
One of these hotels which stands out for its beauty, service, ammenities, and incredible view, is the Mill House. Upon our arrival, our taxi dropped us off about 60 yards from the entrance to the hotel, as the main street for vehicular traffic only runs at the top of the volcanic ridge. (The rest of the terraced town of Fira has a series of intersecting broad pathways which allow you to access the town and its environs) We had barely progressed 30 feet when one of the hotel staff seemingly magically emerged to carry our bags and guide us down the lanes to the hotel.
The front desk staff was very friendly, incredibly helpful, and happy to offer suggestions as to what to see, what to do, and where to eat to insure that our stay in Santorini was as perfect as possible. The hotel, like so many structures on the island, is a series of small buildings (most one to two stories) all artfully interconnected by picturesque walkways and a pool area. The view from our room (and I believe from all the rooms) was of the caldera and the Aegean. The buildings and rooms are done in a style typical of Santorini - whitewashed walls with areas of contrasting vibrant colors, uniquely individual, well appointed, and spotlessly clean. The suite's kitchenette, while small, was efficient and artistic. The decor was a perfect match to this gorgeous Mediterranean island. There were actually spots in the inner walls of the suite (which is built onto the hillside cliff) where the natural rock discreetly and delightfully pokes through and is incorporated into the wall of the room. Most, if not all rooms, have a terrace wiith seating with tremendous views. You can enjoy a drink from the poolside bar while watching the sun set over the caldera. They also serve a complementary breakfast (fruit, homemade pastries, Greek yogurt, honey, juice, and excellent coffee) which you may enjoy at the dining table in your room or on the terrace.
One thing is worth mentioning - if you're looking for a gigantic, plastic hotel where each room is a cookie cutter duplicate of the next and the lobby is like a football field, look elsewhere. The hotels on the cliffsides of Santorini are all necessarily conservative in their space due to the topography, but ones like this make the most of the space they have. We never felt anything but luxuriously comfortable. If you're looking for a boutique hotel with unique, beautiful, and gorgeous accomodations, excellent service, and an incomparable view, stay here. Check out their website - the pictures are dead on accurate, but nothing can compare to actually being there. This is a place you'll be talking about having stayed at for decades to come. My wife and I intend to travel during the next few years to Italy, France, and Spain again, but we're already searching for an excuse to return to Santorini and the Mill House. I recommend this hotel highly and without reservation.
This is Heaven!
One of the most amazing places I've ever been to. I'm actually writing this while still at the hotel because I'm simply in love with it. Staying here for a week (Late May- early June). The hotel is newly updated and it's the thing we noticed first. Everything is freshly pained, clean, and neat. Everything here has a feeling of serenity. Breakfast is brought to you on the patio. Beach towels, robes, slippers, etc are all provided. We were greeted with a glass of champagne and fresh fruit in our room. The pool is great, not too big but clean and beautiful and much needed in such heat. The view is simply AMAZING!
We were greeted at the airport and driven to the hotel where our luggage was grabbed by one of the employees. I had to wrestle the smallest of the suitcases from his hands as he had one on his shoulder and the rest in his arms and ran down the winding staircases. Yes it's a bit of a walk.. but very worth it considering that's how it has the best views and not a lot of foot traffic. You will not have strangers walking by your windows or anyone talking pictures outside your room. All the tourists are in Fira, maybe a 10 min walk.. hot but not bad and nice to get the exercise.
Many many many restaurants all around, the hotel also has it's own cafe but it's on the main street which we also found nice. There is also internet in the cafe for only 1.5 euro for 15 min, but we've been able to connect to the wireless internet.
There are too many small details to mention but if you're in doubt then stay here. You will not regret it- promise!
A lovely place to stay
The hotel is very nicely situated, and leads on to a walking path along the rim of Santorini with access to the old port of Fira 10 minutes walk away. ( Ideal for any planned boat trips).
The view is spectacular, and due to its unique location, one can feel quite remote when looking towards the green sides of the crater's rim on the right with the town of Imerovigli in the background and a beautiful view of the natural rock formation below.
The staff are very pleasant and helpful , and the place is peaceful.
Breakfast is very prompt, served on request outside overlooking the sea, or in your room.
The rooms are cosy, and the whole place is ideal for those in search of a relaxing stay or on honeymoon.
The hotel plays no music, which means one does not have to listen to anything the ear dislikes ( A great plus).
A public car park is a few minutes walk away, important on Santorini ! And nice restaurants are also nearby.
