More about Villa Renos
Fantastic time at Villa Renos
We stayed at the Villa Renos for three nights in June. We booked the room with the outside jacuzzi - room nr 7- and this was definetely the best room. We sat in the jacuzzi on the balcony drinking wine while we watched the sun set over the caldera. Perfect! The room was spacious and the hotel is very well situated-walking distance everywhere. The owners are very friendly and advised us on the right sunset cruise. This is the hotel to book if you are going to Fira.
Hotel Villa Renos
OK, it's probably hard to find a bad hotel on the top of Santorini. The views from almost anywhere from Fira to Oia are some of the most arresting in the world, and I've never seen a photo yet that does them justice.
But Hotel Villa Renos is the best of the best. Yes, the views from each of the 8 balconies are outstanding; yes, the rooms are immaculate, beautifully decorated, large, and cool on the hottest days; yes, the location is central. Yes to it all. But Villa Renos has something to put it over the top: some of the nicest hosts in all of Greece, a country known for its great hospitality. Petros and Zina, now with son Vasilius, do everything just right to make your stay perfect. When we were there at the end of June, every breakfast that Zina made was a gourmet feast, with the best fresh fruits and vegetables available (many from her own garden), with different little pastries and tasty treats each morning, and with anything else you might want (eggs, yogurt and honey, coffee, tea). Want to know a secret beach to sneak off to for a quiet afternoon? Petros can tell you. Looking for the best tavernas on the island? They can direct you.
We've been coming here for 15 years and this hotel has just gotten better every year (this year we found new 30 inch flat-screen TVs in the rooms). We can't wait to go back.

Even Better the Second Time!
This was our second visit to Santorini and our second stay at the Hotel Villa Renos. The Hotel Villa Renos is in a wonderful location in Thira within a minute's walking distance from most shops, stores, and restaurants. It is about a 5-minute walk from the bus station which makes transfers a breeze. The service is outstanding and the family-owned atmosphere shows. The owner and staff will happily make recommendations and arrangements for restaurants, taxis, etc. The owners and their son make you feel at home and let you know they appreciate your business. The accomodations were excellent, the breakfasts were the best we had in all of Europe, and the views, well, they're incomparable. When we return to Santorini, we will definitely return to the Villa Renos. By the way, if you love cats, get to know the resident Juanita - she's a gem!
You'll feel you have to go back................
Family owned and operated, the Villa Renos is thee place to stay in Santorini. From the time you arrive, you will feel like you are staying with family. The rooms are nice with awesome views from wherever you are on the property. By now I'm sure you've read about the breakfasts and yes, they are that good! To give you an idea of the family that runs this hotel, our friend came down with a stomach bug from something she ate in Turkey (a whole other story). After hearing that she was uncomfortable, they arranged for a doctor to come to the room and prepared their own herbal remedy to help her feel better. They called and asked frequently how she was feeling. These are genuinely nice people, something we rarely encounter nowadays. We have every intention on going back to Santorini and wouldn't think about staying anywhere else. Just a quick FYI, if going to Santorini, water shoes are a must at the black beaches and eat at Ambrosia......a recommendation from our hosts at Villa Renos!!!!
Fastastic Place in the Most Fantastic Location
Although we were coming here for a relaxing anniversary trip and it would have been hard to disappoint us, the Hotel Villa Renos exceeded our expectations in every way possible. Quiet rooms with private balconies over looking the Caldera, but far enough below "Gold Street" to keep the noise of the cruise ship traffic far in the distance and not to be heard.
This was my second trip to Santorini, but the only one I'll remember. People told me I needed to stay in Oia, but I'll give you a good reason not to: when the cruise ships are in, it is impossible to get around their small streets and one feels like the paparazzi is all around. However, in Fira, the place is large enough to handle the crowds and with secluded villas like the Hotel Villa Renos, there is no where else on the island you would rather be.
The staff is extremely pleasant and offers plenty of local tips on things to do. The rooms are well appointed and well air-conditioned and yes, they get CNN. If there is anything else you want, I'm sure they have it too. Although the rooms don't have internet, they will let you plug your laptop into their ISP to download emails and such. There are also plenty of internet cafes within a short walk. But listen, you're in Santorini, keep the laptop inside the carry-on or better yet, turn it into a frisbee to forever be with Atlantis at the bottom of the Caldera (just kidding).
Heavenly sunsets, but also much more
After checking the reviews on TripAdvisor, we gave the Villa Renos a try and must say we were very impressed - This was our very first time in Santorini and we loved this property - even after coming from a swanky first class hotel in Athens (the King George II, one of the best), we were completely delighted at Villa Renos from the moment we stepped in. The views can't be beat, our room was very very comfortable and Petros and Vasilis (we didn't meet Zina) were both incredibly helpful, with recommendations on where to go, things to do, best times to get away from the cruise tourists, booking our very early taxi to the airport, etc.
The hotel is right smack in Fira, overlooking the Caldera but towards the end of main street, and a few steps down; so the result is total silence even when all the cruises let people off into town. Our room was very comfortable - we booked a double deluxe - Room 1. It was a great room, with a wonderful terrace overlooking the Caldera and the sunset, and very quiet. One other plus on that specific room - there's an overhanging deck on the first couple of feet over your window, so while there's plenty of sun coming in, you also get some shielding from the strongest afternoon sun. The amenities were great for a small hotel - small fridge / mini bar (with enough space to stock your own soft drinks if you want), LCD TV with full Satellite, a whirlpool tub, and wonderful AC so even in summer you can cool down if it gets hot outside. We didn't try the breakfast since we were sleeping in, but that says something about the beds - even though they run towards the standard european / harder mattress style; we slept like logs all night every night.
A couple of small things about the bathrooms - the hot water tends to run scalding hot at times, so make sure to mix both cold and hot before getting in. Also our tub (in room 1) had some minor water runoff from the side towards the drain, so don't leave shoes or slippers by it while you shower! (hopefully they will fix before we come back next year!)

Amazing views with service to match
We spent about a week at Villa Renos and loved every second of it. Being in the heart of Fira it was close to everything we needed - supermarket, ATMs, restaurants, the bus stop (to head out to the beaches), which was very convenient.
Our room was excellent (room 7 - the delux room with private outdoor spa) with an excellent view of the sunset. It was clean, had cable TV, air-conditioning, books to read, and all-in-all was a great place to head at the end of the day to rest our feet and escape the crowds and get out of the heat to relax.
The service was also first class - professional but also very intimate (being a family run business). Every time we entered and exited the hotel we were greeted and farewelled. The small handful of staff also went out of their way to organise transport, recommend tours and provide those little things that make holidaying so much better e.g. maps of the island, and beach towels (that we forgot to bring). On top of this, the food was excellent! The breakfast which was included in our room rate was nearly all home-made with the owner growing his own olives, figs, and tomatoes. It was so fresh and a perfect start to each morning.
Overall I would have to say this was the best hotel we stayed at while travelling around Europe. We paid EUR 250 a night which might seem expensive, but based on the service and experience I think it was worth every penny.
Fabulous Views, Rooms and Service
We had just finished a 10 day bus tour from Paris to Rome and a few days in each of Pompeii and Crete. Who knew being a tourist was so exhausting? ( great fun though) We needed a rest. We took the high speed ferry from Crete and were met by a friendly cab driver to take us to the hotel. On the road nearest the hotel we were met by a cheerful porter who carried our 40kg of bags as though they weighed nothing on the short walk to reception.
The first thing you notice is the magnificent view. We had a large and comfortable room overlooking Santorini's magnificent old harbour and the central volcanic island. We had a large balcony, complete with private hot tub. Heaven!
The room had everything you could need including a fridge (with spare space) and comprehensive satellite TV. (Most channels had multi-language, so finding enough english for my square eyes was no problem.)
The folk at reception were extraordinarily helpful, giving us the inside running on the local eateries and good local tours. We were there for 5 nights,so we had ample opportunities to test the recommendations.
Breakfast at the hotel was literally "home made" in the kitchen just off the small dining room. You could also eat el fresco on the dining room balcony. If you don't specify what you would like, a range of fresh juices, local pastries, ham, cheeses and toast keep coming out until you can eat no more. Hot eggs and bacon are available on request. My advice to guests is to ask for whatever you feel like, and, chances are, they can get ti for you.
Overall It was a wonderful stay.
The view from the hotel is fabulous. In addition family owner is heart warming person. Our family had a good time at this hotel.
Furthermore wedding service is unique and nice.We could made a good memory at this hotel.
Excellent views, excellent service
Very helpful and friendly staff combined with excellent location to make this a great place, and I'm pretty tough about this stuff. Location is central, but cliffside rooms with balconies provide privacy as well. Recommendations for restaurants, sights from staff were spot on, so we didn't feel we were being "steered" to tourist traps. Highly recommended.
