Hi
I am visiting Milos for the first time this July with my 9 year old. I am nervous about driving in Greece. I have never done so before and am not confident driving on the 'right'!! I wonder if someone could tell me if the transport system on the island is efficient for us to explore without a car? We are keen to see the variety of beaches on the island. We have booked to stay at Nefelli Studios in Pollonia. Anyone have a good experience here? Any tips for my child to enjoy the holiday would also be appreciated.

you are right to be cautious about hiring a car and driving in greece
i wouldn't do it - leave the driving to those accustomed to driving like maniacs- try googling public transport for milos - i am sure this will suffice as it will be high season - and if like on rhodes - the tourists are catered for with extra buses etc in high season you should be ok
can't help with info on the island or your chosen accommodation - but somebody will - if not look on "holidays uncovered" to see what has been wriiten about the place on there
oh and take the coments with a pinch of salt because you can't please all of the people all of the time - some would find something to moan about living in buckingham palace
Quite a small, quiet cove, featuring a sandy beach. A bit hidden and not easy to see if you dont notice the other cars that are parked at the edge of a cliff.
Here you can dive from the rocks -not to high...easy to dive- and fall into deep waters. It can be a bit dangerous so if you havent done it before dont even thinh about it...the waters are very deep
Built on the hill at the entrance of the gulf, Plaka is the most characteristic town on the Island with narrow roads, houses of Cycladic style, and a few shops and restaurants. There is the Folk Museum and The Archaeological Museum.
The Mediterranean monk seal "monachus monachus", one of the most endangered species in Europe, lives on the costs of Milos and on the nearby island of Kimolos. Going around these islands you may be lucky to see one of the few hundreds animals still surviving. The Monk Seal is about 2.5 m. long and weights around 300 kilos. Its skin is covered by short shiny hair in striking black or brown hues on its back, with lighter colors on its underside. An organization, MOM, (e-mail: mom@eexi.gr) has an efficient team to prevent extinction, and surely needs help.
This is a completely solitary beach. You can reach this only by boat, or by motorcycle enduro, because it is connected with the other villages with a very bad road. Long beach, clean water, white rocks.
Paddle to Klima, Milos
The largest of the fishing villages on Milos, Klima comprises about 50 boat houses with various dwelling built above. The boat houses are called Syrmata (= wires; pron. SEER-mah-tah) in reference to the wires boatmen use to haul their boats ashore. Klima is the largest of the 7 settlements in Milos that feature Syrmata.
