mykonos to delos in the afternoon?

by paulthetyke

We are arriving at Mykonos on a cruise ship docking at around 3 in the afternoon on Saturday 23rd July There is a tour organised by the cruise line, but it costs £35 each. It looks like you can't get a regular ferry in the afternoon, is there a way of getting to delos, and definitely getting beck around 7-8 ( the ship sails at 10!! ) thanks

What did you do to get to Delos ? We have the same question for this year, we are arriving at Mykonos on a cruise ship docking around 1 pm on july 25 2009.Could you get there on a ferry or did you have to take the tour organised by the cruise?

Travel Tips for Mykonos

Beds, money, people, bodies....

by wadekorzan

If you're used to travelling to some of the places where I have been...like Seychelles, Maldives, etc....then the beaches of Mykonos will be quite shocking to you. They are quite crowded! It's not unpleasant, it is just something you have to know. Almost every beach has its own infrastructure, with beach tavernas, a few small shops selling beach items, sunbeds, umbrellas, water sports, etc. I recommend to go to the beach with some money, because of you want a bed to lay on, you have to pay. Just go and find a spot you like (if you can find a spot) and make yourself comfortable, eventually someone will come and collect the money from you. Different beaches have different prices and even different sections of the beach have different prices. At Ornos Beach, for example, you can choose between beds for 8 Euros/2 persons, 10 Euros/2 persons, or 12 Euros 2 persons...the difference is in the quality of the bed. We chose the 10 Euros/2 persons option because the beds were more comfortable, and they WERE REALLY COMFORTABLE. The price includes an umbrella and if you are fair-skinned like me than you'll really want some shade as well, it can get very very hot! If you go to the one of the more popular beaches (Platys Gialos, Paradise, Super Paradise, etc, it will be crowded, too, so just have to accept that. But is is great for people watching. And this, too, can be inspiring...if you look at the photo of the man in the picture...well, after seeing him, I decided to go alot more to the gym here in Vienna because next time I go to Mykonos, I want to be the one everyone is looking at!!!! Hehe, don't know if this will happen...but if you are at Paradise and Super Paradise, it is nice to feel good about yourself!!!!I hope this tip helps....if nothing else, it is something to think about!

This one puzzled me...

by DrexelDragon about Verandah

We were walking along, there was a guy down on the street who said we should check it out. We did. It basically the two of us and a group of older people dancing as if they were "I'm hip. I'm with it. Duk-a-duk-a-duk-a-duk..." It was lame. We had a beer and then left.

I'm puzzled as to why this place never got revved up, because it had a decent size bar. It had lots of place to stand and sit. It had a verandah (as the name suggests) where you could look back over the rest of Little Venice. There was room for dancing. Downstairs on the street level there were even more chairs.

I can only think that there weren't enough people in town at the time that would fill it up. I think it would be a better spot during the peak season. Didn't matter at the time.

Great dining by the beach

Little Venice is charming. L=1ocated by the water edge, it's filled with bars, seafood restaurants and little shops. It comes alive in the evening as this is a great place for spectacular sunsets. Would you believe that the sun sets here at 8.30pm???

The only downside to this place is that it's expensive. Heck, everything in Mykonos is expensive!

Delos archeological site

Go to the port and buy a ticket the previous day. I suggest not to take the guide if you have a good travelguide with you. Just take care of your feet with comfortable shoes because you will be walking for 5 hours! A very interesting visit you cannot miss staying in Mykonos a few days!

A Flying Visit

by Pete.Gibson

This is a year with many short trips ,this one was just 3 days a flight to Athens overnight in the Sofitel at the Airport and a 6am flight out to Mykonos to set up a small medical conference a loverly Island which would be well worth a return to explore more
