do anybody know if Delos island is closed on Mondays or it is open all days? I'm going to go to mykonos this July
Hi, according to this site the island is closed to visitors on monday.http://www.mykonos-web.com/mykonos/transportation.htm
It's definitely closed Mondays, like most monuments in Greece, and on other days the tours go there in the morning with the last return being about 2pm. We went with the Delos Express from 9 till 1, which wasn't quite long enough to do all that we wanted. Something for next time then.
Well, Mykonos Island really isnt that small, and there's more to it than just Mykonos Town and Paradise/Super Paradise. Since it's a bit hard to catch a bus to and from the other beaches, it would be a good idea to rent a car, specially if you are more than 2 people sharing the cost.
This place was closed every nite except for one the entire time we were there. The music was good. The beer was affordable. The bathrooms were clean and there was more than one toilet. It was a stylish bar, but not overly so. We wished this place was open more often. The only problem was not knowing why or when it would be open or closed. Fashionable, I guess, but we wore the same clothes going here as we wore for Galleraki, Scand., etc.
Little Venice is a cluster of cafes nestled along the Aegean across from the windmills. I can't remember the name of the restaurant where we ate, but the food was excellent and sitting along the water made it all the better to just relax and enjoy!
Although Santorini has traditionally captured the top place for the most beautiful sunsets in the Greek islands, the sunset in Mykonos has magical moments to offer. The best place to catch the sunset is at the Little Venice area. Have a drink at Katerina's Bar and view the sunset from its balcony. It is simply tranquil and stunning.
We visited Mykonos in August at the height of the tourist season, but still found that there were plenty of chances for some peace and quiet.
We chose Mykonos very much as a last minute thing, not knowing very much about it. I have to say this was probably the first time I agreed to a holiday without really finding out much about the place I was going to. I had a look at a couple of websites, searched through some VT member pages and just went for it. Only later did I start reading more and more about how it could get pretty wild and hedonistic there - something I SO was not looking for, as I really wanted not much more than relaxing on the beach and hotel pool.
However, my worries were unfounded. Mykonos is a great place whatever kind of beach holiday you're looking for - there's quiet and there's noisy.
People were great - I did not meet anyone who was even remotely impolite in the shops, restaurants or hotel, as you quite often do in places jaded with tourists. Everyone was just really, really friendly and nice.
We will be back!
