Hi,
I am fairly familiar with prices on Crete (we have been there many times). We usually can get clean room for 2 people with bathroom and AC for only 40 Euro.
We found similar rooms last summer on Santorini (Akrotiri village - off the beaten track) for less than 50Euro /2 people.
Also Anafi was accommodating. Our room in Hora was only 30Euro.
Now I am looking at prices on MYKONOS and I can not find anything cheaper than 100 Euro for 2 people with AC & bathroom.
Is Mykonos really that much expensive than Crete? Or cheap hotels just don't post on line?
If any one of you was staying on Mykonos Island in last 3 years during months of July and August and know some inexpensive accommodation, please, let me know.
It does not have to be a fancy place. Just clean, bathroom with hot water, and possibly AC. Beach or town does not matter.

Last year I paid 50 Euros/night in early June for Mykonos, pre-booked, and 35 Euros/ni in early July on Santorini pre-booked.
Later on it was 'find on arrival' rooms which were 20 Euros on Anafi, on most islands around 20-35 Euros, so yes Mykonos is expensive.
So your prices for Crete and Santorini would seem to be expensive as well, but going into July would be the reason for that I guess.
Mykonos is much too popular and hi-season starts by early July whereas most islands it's mid July. Both these things make it expensive in your timeslot.
I pre-booked Mykonos just because it is difficult to get reasonably quality rooms at a reasonable price on arrival, it's a long hot hard slog to view often very poor and pricey rooms.
Of course very few 'rooms for rent' places are on-line but that's true for all the islands.
scooters are only 30 euros for a day. it's a fun way to explore parts of the island on your own or with a friend. my friend and i took seperate scooters and we ended up zipping around the island for the day. on a whim, we took a left instead of a right at an intersection, and we came upon this beach. very isolated as there were about 10 other people here, but it was so serene (sp). i was sitting on top of a rock while i took this shot.
This was a Cafe restaurant just under our room. They made everything on order. The atmosphere was very lively in the evening as many locals come here to eat. The food available is all touristic - anything which u want but very less local. The prices are cheaper then other places and its owner is the same of the rooms above (Angela's rooms)
Watching the sunset over Mykonos was absolutely breathtaking. As my friends and I sat in a pub overlooking the water, we were able to watch the entire thing and get some great photos. Come early to the seaside bars; the best views will fill up fast!!
My first time going to Mykonos was in 1994, and I've gone back just about every year or two since then. It's well known as a party island, but has a lot to offer all tastes. You can stay in 5star luxury accomodation or at a campground. You can party all night and day, or have a quiet, peaceful relaxing trip.
Mykonos is one of the two islands where most of the postcard pictures are taken (the other being Santorini).
