More about Hotel Belvedere

Mykonos Belvedere

by MaureenVT about Sunset Bar

The Belvedere is a very luxurious and chic botique hotel. We arrived at about 9:00, and there were people everywhere....mostly upscale locals and tourists. The decor and feel is amazing...the Sunset Bar is inside and covered...but once you get you drinks, you can sit around lounges and couches that surround the beautifully lit pool...which is surrounded by strung circular lanterns. This is a great spot for people watching. I highly reccommend the Vodka Mojito...it's a great alternative to the classic Mojito, and is super refreshing...not to mention it will relax you...it's made with fresh mint, which is key. If you are visiting Mykonos, grabbing at least a drink at the Belvedere is a must!

Ferry / Flight from Mykonos To Santorini

by chienye

Hi,
I had purchase airtickets from Athens to Mykonos and return from Santorini to Athens. Now, I am stuck with no ferry to connect me from Mykonos to Santorini. I booked the airtickets earlier thinking that I will have no problem getting a connecting ferry. I tried Danae travel, www.gtp.gr, Hellenic Seaways, they all told me that there is no ferry connecting and that Hellenic Seaways route has not confirmed. Can anyone please let me know what other options that I have to get myself to Santorini? I checked flight as well, it will be on Aegean Air from Mykonos to Athens and Athens to Santorini... Is there any private local ferries from Mykonos? BTW, I need to travel on 18 April, 2008. Thank you.

Hi friend...

That´s really odd! no ferry available? seams strange....
have you tried to get in touch with the ferry company? maybe they can help with some info....
perhaps they haven´t officialized the schedule...but at least they can inform you wether there will be ferries available....

You can relax, the Hellenic Seaways FlyingCat 4 begins operating on April 18 between Mykonos and Crete with stops at Paros, Ios and Santorini. You will leave Mykonos at 9:45 AM, arriving at Santorini at 11:30 AM. You haven't been able to find the schedules because they just came out and booking isn't possible yet because they still are awaiting final approval. But really, you don't need to prebook for April because it wont' be that full then. Just wait until you're on Mykonos and buy your tickets to Santorini from a travel agency with the HS logo in their window.

On the off chance that the FC4 isn't running (very unlikely!) on the 18th you can still get to Santorini easily by taking the 10 AM morning ferry across to Paros in time to catch the Blue Star "Paros" as she stops there at noon on her way to Santorini.

Daily ferries on this route: Mykonos > Santorini.
1) Mykonos > Santorini, Regular daily small catamaran 14:45 direct during April-October with Hellenic Seaways.
http://www.hellenicseaways.gr/index.asp?a_id=209
Sometimes another small catamaran operates. Alternatively on the odd wednesdays/other days when it does not run change ferry in Paros/Naxos still enables a connection 10:15 to Naxos, then approx 12:40 from Naxos > Santorini.
2) Pre-booking of ferries is only necessary in July/August or just before/after a Greek holiday.
3) Advance ferry information varies from 10 months in advance to a few days, depending on the ferry company involved.
In July/August the meltemi wind can be strong and these small catamarans may, rarely, be cancelled however there is the big ferry alternative via Paros or Naxos.

I apologize if I misled anyone by stating that there is a 9:45 departure from Mykonos for the FC4. That is the departure time from Crete.

Travel Tips for Mykonos

take a night-stroll

by globetrott

Take a night-stroll - the evening is a great time to take a walk, when most of the cruise-liners have left and the sun is not burning down so strong any more.

some of the shops will be open untill late at night for a more relaxed shopping. informal dress is OK.

The Hora

by DrexelDragon

The funnest thing to do, in my opinion, in Mykonos Town is to get lost in the Hora. It's a maze of white washed buildings and outlined streets. Every one of the 5 days we were there, we would find a new street that we had not been down. You can come across some great finds just by getting lost. The smell of food, flowers, and salt air makes its way thru the narroways, and it makes it a great place to walk around. Also great for picture taking.

Viewpoint overlooking Mykonos Town

by wadekorzan

I couldn't say exactly where this picture is taken, but I think there are enough spots you can find with a view like this..and I would certainly rent a car and drive around because you'll get some incredible views like this one of Mykonos Town. Everyone is always running to the Little Venice to have a drink and watch the sunset (which I also recommend to do once), but if you can find a viewpoint like the one in this photo, the view is breath taking. It is really a nice thing to do to sit there and just sit and watch over the town, and also a great place to be for the sunset as well--and you don't have to pay 12 Euros for a drink!

Enchantment in Mykonos

by f_lia

"Platy Yalos"

"Ornos Beach"

This is Ornos Beach, it's soft and quiet and the water is like crystal and smooth. You needn't worry about a mouth full of sand at this beach(in Santorini the sand is punishing!!), this cove is sheltered and welcoming. The cafes are right on the sand here, the food is amazing here, you must order the saganaki..

"Ornos"

This is Ornos town. It has great apartments, as aposed to Platy Yalos, where you'd be better to stay in a hotel as the prices of the apartments are considerable more than in Ornos. It's breath taking, the palms the weeping flowered trees overwheling th white cubist houses.. the friendly locals wishing you good morning from their backyard which you stumbled through by mistake.. and the waffles with ice cream for breakfast on the beach. When you're in Greece you must eat!!
