Hi I am trying to find a really cheap room in mykonos under 100 euro for 2 people around 22 August for 5 nights. Has anyone been to Mykonos this summer? Are there hotel/room owners at the port offering rooms?

I am also going to Mykonos, but a little later than you. I have been doing a fair bit of research into good places that arn't too expensive. My friend stayed at Sofia Village apartments. She said that they were very well located in the middle of town, they were a good price and the people were friendly. Email them at
Other places that I have found that look good and have recieved good reviews on numerous websites are:
Hotel Lefteris:
Hotel Matina:
Kymata Pension:

All are in Mykonos Town and are well priced and have good reviews. If you google them you'll find more info.

Travel Tips for Mykonos

Typical night out

by charlotte-jane about Various

Ok, well maybe you are rich so this is not applicable, but if like me you are on a budget this is the best way to have a good nights partying in Mykonos and not spend a fortune:

- drink a few beers on balcony b4 going out (90 cents from supermarket, amstel)
- go out at 12.30 am
- go to scandinavian bar for 3 euro beers
( a straight bar, a bit falarakish, plays naff charty and party music), if you are a woman get a bloke to pay your entry or pay the 4 euros and get a free drink inside.
- head for pieros (pretentious but lush gay bar) at 2am, buy 1 4 euro beer, pose around outside eyeing the beautiful people
- head into the downstairs bar to groove for a couple of hours to good dancey music, buy no more drinks as tres expensive
- either go home at 4am, or head for yacht club near port for more dancing til dawn..................... dont dress like a hippy traveller in mykonos, you need your slickest clubby gear spliced with cool white linen holiday look.

Elia beach

by Oana_bic

Elia beach can be reached by bus from mykonos town in about half an hour, in 45 minutes by kaik from the village of Platis Yialos or in about 20 min by car or scooter. It's one of the best beaches of Mykonos, with a nudist part and Id say that the vast majority is gay... I personally found it a bit too much and probably didnt manage to enjoy properly the beauty of the place and the relaxed atmosphere because of too many naked male 'truck drivers' bodies - apologies if it sounds horrible..
There's a really lovely estaurant on the beach - on the right side and we had some delicious seafood and wine...

Little Venice of Mykonos

by aukahkay

The Little Venice area of Mykonos is a collection of pastel coloured houses overlooking the Aegean Sea, each with its own unique characteristic and balcony. As you walk through the narrow lanes in this area, you will find restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. A lovely thing to do here will be to have a drink during sunset at the balcony of Katerina's bar while overlooking the Aegean Sea and the windmills.

Late Lunch, A Few Beers, Then On To Samos - Ooops!

by johngayton

Mykonos had been intended as a stop over between Santorini and Samos, slightly rearranged as I had missed my ferry from Thira the day before - having read the wrong bus timetable! Here too I managed to miss my ferry - sitting in the wrong bar this time! But hey, no worries, except the fact that I had already paid for my ticket:(

Despite its reputation as a "tourist island" I kinda liked Mykonos, even though all I really saw was the main town Chora, which after a liesurely late lunch made for a pleasant place to wander, stopping off for an odd beer here and there, sitting watching the sundown and then off to the port to catch my overnight ferry on to Samos. What nobody told me was that there are TWO ports, the new port being a mile or so up the road! (See Warnings and Dangers for the story)
