 It was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The title “Hotel Madoupa” (as well as all the photos of the romms etc.) is deceptive as it has to do probably with rooms for rent without of course providing any reception, meaning that you had to search for the owner and any other employees of the hotel around the region.After our first arrival approximately at 12.00 and after having been informed that the check in is done at 13.00, we received the key to the room. When we returned at 14.00 even an hour after the agreed time, in order to enter the room and get some rest, the room was not ready! In particular, during our first arrival where we left in the room our luggages a plumber was making some plumbing services which were obviously finished only just before we return for the check in, we found the room in a horrible situation, with the bathroom being extremely dirty due to the plumbing services, threatening our hygiene.The beds were not made and there were no new sheets placed on them. Also, while on our reservation we had asked for a triple room with three separate beds, that room provided just a single bed and a semi double bed, something that could make our accommodation difficult, while on the contraty the owner of those rooms for rent had ensured us that the room that would be given to us would be equipped with three single beds. After many complains to all the responsible employees, whose behavior was of the worst kind and who thought that our whole reaction was exaggerated, they places us in another room, which had just been prepared by chance. In that second room, the door of the bathroom was damaged and could not close properly and as a result we were even in danger of not being able to get out of it! Also, at the site of the “hotel” it was deceptively mentioned that the rooms provide satellite television, while at the television of the room you couldn’t watch even one simple local channel. Apart from the fact that the cleaning services were inadequate, as apart from making no sheets were replaces even once, the cleaner forgot to close the French window during her visit at the third day in order to make our beds and as a result thieves got into our room stealing from us precious stuff! The owner, who was not informed for the incident by the local authoritiesm did not take any responsibility for that, mentioning to us almost provocatively that there was nothing he could do for that and that such incidents is something very often on the island. Of course he didn’t forget to issue two receipts regarding our credit card, one of which was premature including the half amount of the whole charge for our stay, obviously fearing the fact that we might leave the room earlier and wanting to be ensured that we wouldn’t miss his minimum revenue at a time where the charge for a triple room per day was 120 euros and was extremely overpriced with the overall services rendered. A truly sad experience which reveals the lack of respect of the local businessmen to the tourists that visit their island…
