PASTURES
So, Delos did become Adelos. House builders on Tinos and Mykonos used Delos as their marble quarry. Delos became a pasture. Forgotten by most until the major archaeological excavations began in 1872 which continue today.

Hi Guys,
Will be in Greek Islands in September. After spending 3 nights in Mykonos, plan to catch a ferry to Santorini. I have gone on www.ferries.gr and done a search for 12/9 and while 3 search results come up, they say it's not available.
Could someone please tell me why there appears to be no ferry availability online? Do you book when you get to the port or do ferries stop operating?
Appreciate your feedback.
I've detailled this extensively in a reply below. You are far too early to book, wait until August when the booking system is loaded. Those ferries run until late October.
By 12 September you don't need to book, just buy tickets on Mykonos, it is that simple.
Hellenic Seaways Flying Cat 4 is scheduled for 14.45 Mykonos to Santorini daily until 11th October. There may be other ferries also running on your date but I can't find any info through the normal sites, maybe it's too far ahead. With it being September there should be no need to book in advance and you should be able to get a ticket at the port on the day (or even a couple of days beforehand). If I remember correctly the Pier1 (?) booking office on Mykonos is especially helpful with info and so would be worth dropping into when you get there.
Hope this helps.
Enjoy!
Thank you so much for your assistance!!!
Hi Guys,
I am wanting to catch a ferry/flight from Mykonos to Santorini on 12th September. I have gone to book either service online only to find that the flights are no longer available and the ferry price is only for business.
Someone advised me that it should be OK to book from Mykonos but if the transportation options are limited, shouldn't I be booking in advance.
Appreciate your advice.
Don't sweat it. Are you starting from Athens?
If so just go to one of the ticket offices at Pireaus and they'll sort you out. If you try and plan Greece that's when you get problems.
If you can get to Mykynos you'll get to Santorini no probs BUT allow yourself a couple of ferry options to get back to Athens in plenty of time to catch your flight home.
You'll find the people in the booking offices very freindly and helpful (more so than the websites).
Hope this helps.
Yes, our trip starts from Athens.
So once you've arrived just go down to one of the booking offices at Pireaus and enquire there. The easiest way of travelling the Islands is to make your trip up as you go along, boats get delayed or cancelled due to weather and so if you try to plan too much in advance you can find yourself all at sea (so to speak). The only thing you need to consider is getting back to Athens for your return journey - make sure you allow for a bit of Greek chaos and get back to the mainland the day before.
Enjoy!

The art of making ice cream has been improved and new flavours are added every week, think that makes me to want to try each one of them. Here are some of my favourite flavours. Green Tea, Fig, Cinnabon, Honey with Sesami, ice cream with “Tsoureki” or with “Melomakarono” and other that makes me act like an addict. It is situated in Matogianni.
This is the most interesting museum of Mykonos and this Museum is situated in the town of Hora. It has got the pottery from Delos Island and some grave stelea and jewellry from the Island of Renia (Delos's Necropolis)
Mykonos is a beautiful island, but we stood up the hills. That allowed us to try almost desert beaches (where my kids saw nudists for the first time) and observe the hard conditions of life for the people not connected to tourism. The distances are short and the hotel's shuttle provided transport to beach and town.
