I have stayed at the Hotel Carbonaki both times I have visited Mykonos! Now that says something, Not only did I go once but I came back the next year!!
It is a small family run hotel in the heart of Mykonos town. There are about 10 guest rooms, a breakfast room and a pool.
Now whilst the hotel is located in town it is not next door to any bars or clubs(they are about a 5min walk). So you needn't worry about pumping music keeping you awake!
I would definitley reccomend this hotel to anyone visiting Mykonos!
The rooms are simple but very clean, with a maid service every day (if you want). They all have Televisons, refrigerators and private bathrooms(with showers). Now those of you that have been to greece will be familliar with the hand held shower faucet(a little hard to get the hang of at first!!).
This hotel is very close to all amenaties(which isn't hard as Mykonos is such a small island) There are planey of restaurants and shops loctaed a short distance from the hotel and there is a convenience store just around the corner.(you can get all the basics there and make phone calls).

Boat Deck or Dock Bench?: Dock Bench!
Having managed to miss my overnight ferry to Samos (see Warnings and Dangers) there was nothing for it but to roll out the sleeping bag and crash on a bench at the dock. The standard of service was pretty naff, as were the facilities and amenities and the local mosquitoes had a field day. Nope, can't say I can particularly recommend this accomodation to anyone else but needs must and I had intended to sleep on deck on the boat anyway!
On the bright side I did get to see the dawn come in as I wandered into town in search of my morning coffee!

This recently built appartments are a good choice, not far from the town (at the north, 10 minutes walking, and isolated enough to enjoy a nice holiday here. Wonderful views, as they are at the top of the hill.

I didn't and...
BOOK IN ADVANCE
I didn't and have a lot of trouble once I arrived. At the end you find something, but is far and unconvenient. So better make reservations before, at least only the first night. Here are some good addresses: Dolphin Hellas or Aegean Thesaurus who can probably get you discounted rates too or Fantasy Travel.

Zorzis Hotel: THE LEGEND
The Zorzis is right in the heart of the Hora of Mykonos. I was very satisfied with my stay. You may find less expensive places to stay, but this place is nice and has some other things going for it.
My friend and I stayed in a small roomwith 2 single beds. Things were a bit crammed. We had enough closet space, but not enough dresser drawers to put our clothing in. The room came equipped with SAT TV, but we had a bad connection...CNN would only last for about 30mins before it went fuzzy. The bathroom was small. The sink was smaller than I would have liked, but there was a separate shower stall that kept water from getting everywhere. The shower also had great pressure and no lack of hot water. All I say about the toilet is take heed of the notice NOT TO PUT TOILET PAPER IN THE TOILET.
The hotel itself is very well maintained which is evidenced by its cleanliness, excellent building paint and style, furnishings, and people.
All in all, we were comfortable in the room, and there's also a refrigerator downstairs that you may store food in. I think the rate of 55euro per nite for a double bed in the heart of the Hora is fair. This is compared to the 85euro per nite standard rate.
Check out the hotel's website for all the info.
I think what gives this place real value is the owner, Jonathan. He's an aussie ex-pat. He lived for several years in the US and other places. He now owns and runs the Zorzis.
He says that the hotel is so expensive to operate thanks to the Greek tax system, that he just gets by. He's more interested in making relationships with visitors to establish a comfortable place for people to return. I think he does well by this, because he says hello to everyone who walks by. He knows almost everyone who does go by. He really enjoyed spending time with us and other guests just shooting the breeze out on the front porch of the hotel. He's certainly a mad-hatter of sorts when he gets to talking, but he's a wealth of information.
He can tell you where to go to find great eats for reasonable prices as he did with us. He can also show you to a reputable art gallery, where my friend got a major steal on some vases. He directed a German couple on where to go in Ano Mera, and he even went out of his way to put Tavis and I in the "pole position" for some women. A real character.
The girl at the front desk, Rachel, works during the day. She was always cheerful and more willing to hold a conversation than to merely answer your questions.
