Overlooking dining area and pool

The Myconian Imperial belongs to the Leading Hotels of the World network. It is a 5 star hotel, and so we splurged quite a bit to come here for one week at the height of summer. Well worth it though.
It is located in the south of the island, about half an hour away from the airport and 20 minutes away from the town centre. The hotel provides a free shuttle service to and from town at "strategic" times several times a day. Some guests complained a bit about this, but honestly it all worked out fine for us. Once there was only standing room on the bus because there were so many guests, but at other times the ride was pretty comfortable.
Staff are excellent and the room we had was very nice indeed, with a generous selection of toiletries (Molton Brown and others).
We had the half-board deal (dinner), but I would recommend not taking it as eating at a posh restaurant 7 nights in a row was a bit much - too rich food with heavy sauces. We kind of gave up after the 4th night and had two dinners in town.
Private beach - the end of a stretch of beach at Elia is cordoned off for guests of the Myconian Imperial and Royal Myconian (a sister hotel located just up the road from the Imperial). But it is quite a steep walk up and down the hill from the hotel to the beach... but in the afternoons, the hotel provides a shuttle service.
Spa centre - this was quite popular among the guests as the hotel is well-known for its facilities. I only had one back massage during our stay as it just cost too much money (€50 for a 25 min session) but it was so enjoyable. The staff are really good.
Views - all rooms are claimed to be sea-facing. We asked for a room in a quiet area and so were tucked quite a ways back and didn't have a great view of the sea actually. But from the pool area and the restaurants, the views are FANTASTIC.
