transportation to Delos after 1pm

by Anage

We are arriving to Mykonos in a cruise at 1pm, we would like to go to Delos but the tour organised by the cruise costs 93 dolars per person. Is there a ferry we can take? I have read that the last boat sails to Delos at 11:00 am, is there a ferry or boat to get there after 1pm?

I just found this:

"Mykonos provides the easiest access to Delos and excursion boats leave from the small quay mornings, Tuesday through Saturday, starting at 8:30 a.m. Boats depart every half hour and return between 11 am and 3:30 p.m. You can stay three or fours hours and get a guided tours for about €20. Tickets costs €8. round trip. A free map accompanies each ticket and one can listen in on guided tours."

Hi;
I'm sorry, but if you want to get public transport to Delos in the afternoons you're out of luck - officially the island closes for the afternoon, and there are no boats after 11. Presumably the reason for the high price of the trip organised by your cruise liner is that they're doing a special opening of the facilities on Delos.

There is no ferry suitable, as has been mentioned.

The Delos site will probably be open for cruise ship passengers later as a 'special' and to spread out the numbers in the day.

Travel Tips for Mykonos

MOUNT KYNTHOS

by mtncorg

Walk to the top of Mt Kynthos - 110 m/360 ft - passing the temples to Syrian and Egyptian gods, the Sacred Cave - an apollo-oriented oracle -and the Shrine of Good Luck (an ancient version of St Jude). Atop Kynthos, settlements have been seen to date to 3000 BC, but it is the view you will come here for. A truly ethereal outlook encompassing most of the Cyclades. Haunting views over what was and what is.

NIKOS TAVERN
Niko's is one of the best and most famous places to eat in the town. ¿Where is it? I couldn't answer to that, as it is in one of those narrow streets that are all the same. But just ask anyone in the street and they will kindly indicate you where is it exactly located. More Info

Petinos Beach (Platis Gialos)

by Maryimelda

If you are one of the many people who don't want to go to places that are too "touristy". then Petinos Beach is not for you. This is tourist heaven and I found it very exciting.
The fabulous beach is enormous and is fronted by many hotels and restaurants. We were spoiled for choice when it came to choosing a lunch venue. We finally settled on one and were shown to a table right on the beach. The food was unremarkable, so much so, that I can' teven remember what I had. What I do know is that we spent an hour or two here people watchng and it was great.

THE BEST PLACE ON EARTH

"page best viewable by listening to lounge music..."

Lots of people, maybe you too, believe that Mykonos is a party island.Ok this is one option.Through this page i'll try to give you my option... Mykonos is the most romantic place i've ever been.An island that has EVERYTHING on any range of prices...

believe it or not i think this is better than Santorini

"first views of the island"

This is the old port of Mykonos.Locals name it Gialos (yalos). Is the first place you walk on the island as most of ships still get to this port. Also is the closest a taxi can get you,in manto square.Nice place for morning cafes and breakfasts (my preference is Kazarma) and for late afrernoon after sunset, lot of taverns and restaurants (i prefer Kamares next to taxis).
