Preventing sea sickness
by om_212
if you are planning to do island hopping in September-October, when the Aegean Sea is quite restless, make sure to take some pills against sea sickness. My friend has recommended to buy Drimen (Dimenhydrinate 50mg) while in Greece. it worked great. just take one pill (instead of two) an hour before your board a boat to keep you well and ready to explore the next destination.
Quiet village
by snorril
On our day driving around Naxos we came across a lot of villages. Naxos is much less touristic than many other Greek Islands and many villages are unaffected by tourism. I was feeling rather tired after driving on these roads, which are not the best in the world. So, we stopped in this village, Koronida, right by the road under a big tree and took a nap for half an hour. The peace was incredible the only sounds that broke the silence were the birds singing and the occational goat.
Grilled octopus

Since Naxos is an island, it's only natural that seafood would make up a substantial part of the local diet. When walking around Naxos Town looking for a place to eat it is very common to see fresh octopus hanging out to dry in the Sun. It is served simply by grilling it and putting it on a plate - nothing fancy at all. I have to admit I never tried it because I loved the traditional Greek cuisine so much. Maybe on my next trip : )
Great beach
by ncoutroulis
I almost don't want to tell anyone about this, but that would be really selfish. I think this is off the beat and path. Mikri Vigla beach is south of the main town of Chora, and it is a great little beach with crystal clear waters, and an incredible taverna right there on the beach. It's a little tough to get to, you have to drive on a dirt road, but it's well worth it.
Close to the port
by oriettaIT about Taverna Irini
This taverna is one of the many along the water, it atracted me because of the nice pergola, wood tables with checked table clothes and because of the food I was sneakily checking out on people's plates. I liked it so much I went back another time.
The first time we had horta (local sort of spinach veggie plate) gemista (tomatoes stuffed with rice) grilled calamari and grilled octopus, house wine and water for 34 euros in 2008.
The second time we had zucchini croquettes, peppers boat stuffed with chease, stuffed eggplants and gemista, 32 Euros with two beers.
The only cons of this place is that both time it took them forever to bring us the bill.. I guess I could have solved the problem easily walking to the counter! I loved the Gemista and the grilled seafood was delicious
