Oia is a very popular destination for people who want to view the sunset, so you would be well advised to go early to give yourself time to find a good vantage point. My wife and I barely got there in time but did end up finding a very good spot fortunately.

The Port town on Oia from a wine bar just before dusk.
The Red Beach is located on the other side of the island - we rented a car and it was a gentle drive. Bring chairs or at the very least a towel the beach is rocky. There is a climb down onto the beach.
