Beautiful apartment - all you could wish for

by TripAdvisor Member UK-CH

We stayed at Oia Castle last week of September 2006 in the Sunset apartment. It is stunning, with the most fantastic private terrace perfectly situated for watching the sunset in comfort each night. The staff truly could not have been more helpful and friendly. Everything is well kept and very clean.

The interior of the apartment is charming - the only very small downside is that a more comfortable sofa would have been welcome. The first floor bathroom has an aromatherapy steam room/shower which is a lovely extra for relaxing. The Oia Castle apartments also have an outdoor large whirlpool bath where you can also relax and watch the sunset.

Its very hard to fault Oia Castle and Sunset in particular – its luxury that fits its surroundings and well worth the price.

Surrounded by beauty and art

by TripAdvisor Member sorinrock

Me and my siblings stayed at Oia Castle: Volcano, Aqua, and Marine. Aqua and Marine share three decks, one which has a jacuzzi. I stayed in and love the Aqua, which has an indoor pool for a private dip. Its attached to Marine, which is also lovely. All three are very very chic. You are surrounded by art. Everywhere you look there is something beautiful to look at. Aqua Marine is very private too, with the best seats in the house, so to speak, for the sunset. Volcano is near a path that leads down to the sea. Its less private than the other two, but also the perfect view of the sunset. We also got a look at Olympic, which wasnt open yet and is next to Volcano. Its consistent with the others, is larger though - more spacious. Dimitri and his staff were great. I am going back the first chance I get, but probably would stay in Sunset, which has its own private terrace above the Aqua and Marine connected villas.

Beautiful Aspaki

by TripAdvisor Member Aspaki

Aspaki can not be recommended highly enough. Its without doubt the most beautiful private and unique place to stay in Oia, if not in all of Santorini. After having stayed in the Endless Blue room of Aspaki last year on the top floor with the islands greatest view of the caldera, and then the next night staying 2 floors down in the magical Deep Blue room, this year we were able to spend 2 nights in the Atmospherico suite on the middle floor.

The best way to describe "the Aspaki experience", is to imagine that you are hanging in space above the crumbling lava that falls away 200m down to the jet blue, almost black, waters of the caldera. To the right of your view is the village of Oia spilling down the cliff face, to the left is the expansive view across the caldera waters to Thira in the distance. Now imagine having your own cycladic villa being built around you on the caldera to hold you in this suspended space. This is Aspaki – 4 individual and unique private rooms each providing homely luxury on the best site in Santorini. For those who take the time and care to look, Aspaki offers something very special – a unique feeling created by the dramatic views and cliff-drop, the silence of the ferries cruising in through the heads and the long ripples they leave behind shimmering on the silvery surface, and the overall quietness and calmness of the location. Simply being at Aspaki allows you to feel the real essence of Santorini, which is missed by most visitors who only get to see the hustle and bustle in the back streets.

Most hotels are functional constructions built along practical and economic lines into which the guest is placed. This is pleasant enough in most cases, but these hotels completely miss the point of Santorini, and in particular Oia. Aspaki turns this concept on its head by placing the guest first in the most perfect location and then building the room around the guest to achieve the penultimate Santorini experience.

The Atmospherico suite has a large separate bedroom containing a queen size bed with canopy and its own small bathroom and a small balcony off the bedroom with the most spectacular view over Oia. There is also a larger bathroom with large bath-tub and a view to die for. One of the most delightful features of Atmospherico is climbing up to the day-bed in the attic, which has a small window opening out over the caldera – I spent many hours up here! The large private balcony offers magnificent and uninterrupted views over the caldera. Its the perfect place to read, nap, ponder, watch the moon rise or simply stare out into the distance for hours. The owner Dimitris has carefully selected a range of CD’s which appropriately set the mood of this room. A bottle of chilled Santorini wine was waiting in the refrigerator on arrival.

We had the most wonderful time here and can’t recommend it enough. All of the rooms are spectacular, but we still have yet to stay in Romeo & Juliet. An excuse to go back!

Aspaki is such a special place and undoubtedly has a place in many people hearts. Dimitris is a very deep and creative person who doesn’t seem to realise just how affected his guests are by Aspaki. To me, it is one of the most special places in the world that you could possibly stay. Memories of sitting on the many different balconies will stay with me forever.

Breathtakingly beautiful!

by TripAdvisor Member Librairie

Aspaki is perhaps the most beautiful place I have ever stayed. The balcony of "Endless Blue", the apartment in which we stayed, is huge, has its own jacuzzi, and has a completely uninterrupted view of the Aegean. It was the perfect place to relax and recharge my batteries. Oia is a most delightful town, suited to those looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday with a slow pace. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

What a View!

by TripAdvisor Member NJDaddyO

You pay for the view, what a location. The rooms are traditional and very nice. Many of the souveneir shops sell postcards of this place. In fact we have a large beautiful print hanging above our fireplace at home. We stayed in the Romeo/Juliet suite and we loved it. You get up in the morning and sit and stare in Awe at the most fantastic view. Everyone should visit Santorini before they die. Hi Dimitris(owner) and Nicholai, sorry for the late posting. Maybe we'll see you next summer, Joe and Charlotte
