Oia Castle (Aspaki Art Maisons) WOW
After spending what seemed like 6 weeks researching the perfect apartment in Oia, we finally settled on Oia Castle - or Aspaki Art Maisons as they seem to be called too. These apartments must have the best location in Santorini. We were overwhelmed by the view, the quality of the apartment, the attention to detail. We stayed in 'Volcano'. Ok here's the weird thing... the apartment opens onto the path where a lot of people gather to watch the sunset. At first this is weird because they all stare at you, (mainly because you're sitting there with your glass of wine on your fantastic terrace like lord of the manor!). The only problem is people pass your window a lot and sort of try to peek in. The lack of privacy was a bit odd at first. But the view and apartment was so stunning we didn't care.
Breakfast is brought to you each morning at a time of your choosing - it's bliss. The owner's office is next to the apartments, this is good incase you want to ask questions, but sometimes it's annoying when you hear the phone ringing and lots of heated debates in Greek. To sum up (after a rather long review - whoops) Aspaki is awesome. I will remember the Oia experience forever.
You can't go wrong with Art Maisons / Aspaki. Pay the extra - it's worth it. ps. The guy that carries your bag is so lovely as is the girl that brings you breakfast - great staff.
Amazing views from a great apartment
We stayed at the Endless Blue apartment as Aspaki. It is a very spacious, unique apartment with a stunning private terrace with spectacular views of the caldera at Oia. The terrace has a Jacuzzi bath, perfect for cooling off from sunbathing.
The interior of the apartment is charming with a full kitchen and comfortable seating area. We enjoyed staying here and the view is hard to beat. Overall the apartment is excellent, but a few improvements would bring it up to the 5 star standard at sister property Oia Castle for example - providing breakfast would be great and the bathroom could be upgraded. Otherwise its very hard to fault Endless Blue – its comfortable, beautifully located and well worth the price. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
No better place for the sunset
The creator of Aspaki, Mr. Dimitris Nikolouzos, has just opened his newest addition to Art Maisons – “Oia Castle”. We have just returned from 6 days staying in 2 of the 5 suites, Volcano Villa and Aqua. The new hotel is under the Kastro of Oia, which is the perfect place to watch Oia’s famous sunsets. Aqua, on the middle level, has a stunning marble foyer leading into an alcove which serves as a bedroom. The room and furnishings are extremely elegant with an overall aquatic theme including your own sunken cave-pool within the bathroom. The pool is brilliant for cooling off on a hot afternoon and at night can be illuminated with pool lights to give an eerie grotto effect. Everybody wanted to stay in this room!
Out on the terrace, Aqua has a Jacuzzi (which is shared with the Marine room) hidden in a cavity inside the wall and facing the sunset, 2 sun-lounges as well as a beautiful enclosed cane wicker sun-chair where we spent many hours curled up in during the heat of the day to read and sleep. This was a great private little spot to hide and view the goings-on of Oia.
After 2 nights at Aqua, we then moved to the Volcano Villa on the lower level. Volcano has a wonderful homely feel with exquisite features that reflect the volcanic nature of Santorini. The room is decorated with frescoes depicting scenes from Santorini’s ancient past. Lava rocks have been used as tiles in the kitchen and bathroom to great effect. The large (and gorgeously comfortable) bed is set within a traditional cave alcove - this was one of the best beds I have ever slept in! The roof and walls are sculptured in beautiful white, soft curves with no harsh straight lines. The room is at its most beautiful at night when candles – set inside the wall – are lit.
One of the most special features of the room is a small shuttered window within its own small alcove beside the bed giving a spectacular view over the Aegean at the exact spot that the sun sets. This window acts like a frame around a wonderful view of this part of Oia as it spills down to Amoudi Bay below. It was a pleasure to go to sleep with this window open letting a cool breeze in yet providing absolute privacy as it is at a height where no passer-by can see in.
The bathroom, with a beautiful large spa bath, can be romantically illuminated in an orange glow generated by light passing through orange rock crystals – hard to describe but just one of Dimitris’ many wonderful creations.
A satisfying continental breakfast was delivered to the rooms each morning at the time of your choice and all rooms have coffee making facilities, refrigerator, TV and CD and DVD player.
We were lucky enough to view all of the rooms and they are all very special and unique. The Sunset room on the top floor has a shower to die for and a beautiful large terrace. For something special you can’t go past this hotel. Dimitris’ office has now moved from near Aspaki to be close to this hotel and he is always close at hand to provide everything you could possibly wish for.
Absolutely amazing, the best!!
This hotel is the best of the best- the Endless Blue suite at Art Maison in Oia, Santorini was amazing! We stayed in late August. My husband and I are in our late 40's and have been traveling throughout the world for many years, generally staying in excellent hotels(at least in our opinion) and have never had the experience of a hotel room literally taking your breath away. We were met by the extremely charming Nikola(also known as Nikolas)who took our bags to our room and oriented us to the property. He is the kind of person that you like immediatly and actually look forward to seeing each day when he stops by to check on your happiness. Our suite was phenomenally beautiful and we spent much of each day staring off of the large clifftop balcony into the stunning caldera below. There is ample built-in seating, 2 chaise lounges and a cooling hot tub for the warm afternoons. The little blue house as we came to call "Endless Blue" is certainly not the most luxurious accomodation(although extremely well decorated and appointed) but it's charm and views will absolutely transport you. We bought food at the local grocery store and made lunches in our seaview kitchen which we then laid out on the table on the balcony. An afternoon of sipping wine, reading and congratulating ourselves was how we spent our days. The whole experience was heaven on earth and Endless Blue is the only hotel where we have been committed to returning. We met Georgia, the professional and charming manager of Art Maison on our last eveing and she let us tour two of the villas in the Castle. Both suites were very beautiful and luxurious but in our opinion, couldn't compare to Endless Blue. I can see how some would appreciate the gold fixtures and ornate decorating scheme but we would choose the Aspaki Suites first. The Castle suites are in direct view of the sunset and are in the thick of a heavily touristed area which some may prefer. Just up the street was Aspaki and we loved being a bit away from the crowds and truly in another world. All of my life, I will remember the feeling that I had in Endless Blue, staring out at the beautiful sea.
Truly a magnificent place like no other
Staying with my wife at Aspaki in Oia, Santorini was simply the climax of our honeymoon in Greece; definitely the best holiday accomodation I've ever experienced. We stayed at both Romeo & Juliet and Endless Blue apartments there. Each of them is uniquely & exquisitely decorated with different marvelous themes.
While Romeo & Juliet is kind of a cave house with stunning pinkish hue, I particularly adore the spacious private balcony of Endless Blue; the caldera view from it is breathtakingly out of this world. You could just do nothing a whole day, sit back, relax and absorb the 270 degree panorama offered from the balcony as the sky and the buildings change their colors as the sun moves throughout the day. Pure bliss.
At night, standing on the balcony there's total darkness as you cannot see both the cliff and the sea; only lights from cliff houses can be seen, making them appear like a galaxy of big stars.
The spectaculat sunset a la Oia could also be enjoyed intimately with your loved ones from the balcony (at least during our stay in late October) without having to go to Kastro or other places to squeeze yourselves with swarms of other people.
There's also an outdoor jacuzzi with hot & cold water on the balcony, perfect to cool yourself in the scorching afternoon or warm yourself in the cold night (both of which we did try! :)).
Santorini is the most gorgeous Greek island, Oia is the most enchanting town in Santorini, and Aspaki is the most beautiful property in Oia. There you have it, as simple as that.
Kudos to Dimitris, the owner & Nicholas his assistant that really made our stay there truly wonderful & memorable. Looking forward to our second visit to lovely Oia, Santorini...
