Lefkes
by snorril
Lefkes is a beautiful, quiet town in the center of Paros. It is the former capital of the island and the second largest town. All the houses are white and the reflection from their walls makes it almost impossible to go around without sunglasses during the day. The winding narrow streets are great fun to explore and the houses are beautifully decorated with flowers. The streets are too narrow for cars to pass so there are no disturbances.
Lefkes is a must to visit when touring Paros.
CATHOLIC CHURCH AT LEFKES
by mtncorg
Medieval times in the Cyclades meant feudalism Venetian-style. After Byzantine feudal authority collapsed wtih the Crusader sack of Constantinople, early in the 1200's, most of the Cyclades were split up among Venetians, who ruled for 300 years when the Turks took nominal control. Venetian legacy is everpresent around Paros, as in much of the rest of the Cyclades. Roman Catholic missions constantly tried to convince the Orthodox natives of the error of their ways - for the most part, unsuccessfully. Here, at Lefkes, a beautiful Roman Catholic church reminds us of an earlier Paroian chapter.

"Paros"
Paros was nice and relaxing, go to the beach and take a boat tour with Captain Andros, which was great, we took a tour on his boat to AntiParos and some tiny island where we barbecued and drank Ouzo.
"Cruise"
There's a bar somewhere on the main street near the port where this guy Captain Andros hangs out. He has a great boat and friendly crew and we took a cruise around PAros Antiparos and to some small island around there. The cruise was great, they provided lunch of shish kabob and seafood which was excelent. There was also wine and liquor including Ouzo and we had a fantastic time swimming on the beach of this remote island. We also went swimming in the ocean right between two islands and diving for sea urchins. If you can find Captain Andros definitely take this trip it was excellent. You will have to take a bus or taxi to the North side of the island to catch his boat.
