Preventing sea sickness
by om_212
if you are planning to do island hopping in September-October, when the Aegean Sea is quite restless, make sure to take some pills against sea sickness. My friend has recommended to buy Drimen (Dimenhydrinate 50mg) while in Greece. it worked great. just take one pill (instead of two) an hour before your board a boat to keep you well and ready to explore the next destination.
Art & Prints
by Sharrie
The painter is Manolis Sivridakis & he's the man here. & this is his Art Gallery. Some are prints while others are art pieces. So far, I've seen the nicest collection in Oia here. I'm not a painting collector but some of you might be. So, check out his paintings. The gallery is on the path towards the castle.

Nea Kameni Island
by ania70pl
An active volcano with steam reaching 80 to 85 degrees Celsius can be seen at the highest point of the island, known as King George I Crater (about 100 meters high). The earth is hot in some areas and the smell of sulphur is very noticeable.
MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING
by DAO
Greek weddings are big. They probably cost a lot of money too. So who pays? You guessed it, the father of the bride. So what is he paying for? 3 days of celebrations and food and drink. For a whole lot of people! The 3 days are:
1) The Proaulia or ‘preperation’. Mostly a ladies only event surrounding the bride, her dress and bride’s maids. The Groom is safely down at the local bar with his friends.
2) The Gamos - the actual wedding day. Starts with the Bride bathing. That is always good. No mention of the Groom getting cleaned up. Let’s hope so for the sake of the guests.
3) THE FEAST! That’s the good part for the guests. Food, drink, more food, music and more food! Just look at some of my pictures! During the Feast you have the Anakalupteria, which is the unveiling of the bride. I don’t actually believe that the whole Bride thing is a secret anymore, but they may have elderly and confused relatives. It’s an excuse to drink. Go for it!
