Gardenia Hotel Santorini

The Gardenia is a basic hotel, very clean and friendly. It is in a very good location, a few steps to the beach, restaurants, and buses. This is a good side of the island to stay, Perissa is a flat area, suitable for people with walking difficulties. If you can manage it, the local bus will take you to the more scenic side of the island, ( at little cost ) Thira, and Oia, can both be reached in a very short time, though you do need to get another bus from Thira to Oia. The scenery at both places, is a photographers dream. One draw back with both places, the cruise liners, and their many passengers, fill these little towns, when they dock for a day. This is another good reason to stay on the quieter side of the island.

Unique Quality: The Gardenia has a lovely pool area, with a small bar. Snacks can also be obtained. This property also has studios, so if you want to self cater, or take B. and B. either is good value for money. We have been twice to the Gardenia, and both times very satisfied. The manager is very helpfull, polite and friendly. The area by the hotel is also quiet. There is a water park opposite, and a lovely reasonable restaurant a short distance up the road.

Directions: From the youth hostel on the main road in Perissa, take next turn right, Gardenia is halfway down on the left. Beach is further down this side road.

Stayed here in late May into June 2007. We had a studio for two. Basic, but large and airy.
The studios are kept very clean. Pool area is very pleasant, with a small bar, serving snacks. Plenty of sun loungers, with sun brollies.
Staff here are very helpfull, the manager in particular is very good at his job, and makes you feel welcome. The Gardenia is in a good location, with the beach a few minutes away. There is a good bus service to Thira, the busier side of the island.
Visited Thira one evening for a meal overlooking the cauldra, well worth the effort. Used the local bus to get there, but got a taxi to return as late bus not available.
