Melina Hotel
The room was very nice, a short walk to the bus station and the center of Fira. The beds are in a loft, which didn't leave alot of headroom, but it was fun. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was A/C and a very nice pool. They have a computer with internet in the lobby for guests to use free of charge. There was a nice mix of families, couples, and single groups. Breakfast is served to you, but the menu is fixed -- egg, bread, pastries, and a wonderful ham and cheese sandwich. It was more than we could eat.
However, don't book this through Expedia. Go directly to the hotel's web site instead. I booked one adult and one child, but the rate I was quoted was for one adult only, even though it clearly showed the child on the booking. The best Expedia would do to correct the miscommunication, and the higher actual 2-person rate, was to give me a coupon for a future hotel visit. Maybe Hotels.com has this property?
Unique Quality: The flowers around the hotel are lovely, it really does look like the picture on the website. Everything was neat and clean.
